Organizations Filed Purposes: THE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH FOUNDATION OF THE BBB OF METRO NY, COLLABORATES WITH METRO NEW YORK'S BBB TO CREATE, FUND, AND IMPLEMENT SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND INVESTIGATE PROJECTS ON CONSUMER PHILANTHROPIC ISSUES. THE FOUNDATION PERFORMS CHARITY EVALUATIONS BASED ON THE BBB STANDARDS FOR CHARITY ACCOUNTABILITY.

THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO BE A LEADER IN ADVANCING MARKETPLACE TRUST BY UPHOLDING AND RECOGNIZING ETHICAL BUSINESS AND CHARITY STANDARDS AND PRACTICES IN NEW YORK.

CHARITY ACCOUNTABILITY:THE FOUNDATION'S CORE PROGRAM IS ITS BBB CHARITY ACCOUNTABILITY PROGRAM (FORMERLY CALLED THE NEW YORK PHILANTHROPIC ADVISORY SERVICE OR "NYPAS"). THIS PROGRAM PROMOTES GIVING BY ENCOURAGING CHARITIES TO FOLLOW ACCOUNTABLE PRACTICES AND TO MEET A SET OF NATIONAL BBB STANDARDS FOR CHARITY ACCOUNTABILITY. THROUGH EXTENSIVE INTERACTIONS WITH PUBLICLY SOLICITING CHARITIES IN THE METRO NEW YORK AREA, THE FOUNDATION REVIEWS THE ORGANIZATIONS' PERFORMANCE AGAINST BBB STANDARDS. CHARITIES THAT MEET ALL 20 BBB STANDARDS ARE CONSIDERED "BBB ACCREDITED AND ARE NOTED AS SUCH IN A BBB CHARITY REPORT. [SEE CONTINUATION ON SCHEDULE O]BBB EVALUATIONS ARE CONDUCTED WITHOUT CHARGE, AND IF BBB ACCREDITATION IS MERITED, IT IS AWARDED AT NO COST TO THE CHARITY. THE FOUNDATION PUBLISHES ITS REPORT FINDINGS ON BBB WEBSITES SUCH AS NY.GIVE.ORG AND GIVE.ORG, AS WELL AS ON NEWYORK.BBB.ORG AND BBB.ORG. THESE BBB CHARITY REPORTS ENCOURAGE DONORS TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHARITIES BY ENSURING THAT DONORS, WHEN MAKING DECISIONS ABOUT GIVING, CAN LEARN ABOUT CHARITIES' GOVERNANCE, FINANCES, SOLICITATION PRACTICES, COMMITMENT TO MEASURING EFFECTIVENESS, PRIVACY POLICIES, AND OTHER MATTERS.

EDUCATION AND FRAUD PROGRAM:THE FOUNDATION WORKS WITH CHARITY LEADERS TO HELP THEM LEARN HOW TO MEET THE BBB STANDARDS OF CHARITY ACCOUNTABILITY BY PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT ITS STANDARDS AND ABOUT ISSUES RELATING TO CHARITY EFFECTIVENESS. THROUGH ITS METRO NEW YORK BBB ACCREDITED CHARITY SEAL PROGRAM (THE "SEAL PROGRAM"), THE FOUNDATION LICENSES THE USE OF ITS BBB ACCREDITED CHARITY SEAL TO ELIGIBLE NONPROFITS THAT HAVE FIRST MET ALL BBB STANDARDS FOR CHARITY ACCOUNTABILITY IN A NO-COST REVIEW. THE CHARITY SEAL SYMBOLIZES TO THE PUBLIC THAT A CHARITY HAS MET ALL 20 BBB STANDARDS. [SEE CONTINUATION ON SCHEDULE O]PARTICIPATION IN THE SEAL PROGRAM IS OPTIONAL AND ONLY AVAILABLE TO BBB ACCREDITED CHARITIES. BBB CHARITY SEAL HOLDERS PAY A LICENSING FEE FOR PERMITTED USES OF THE BBB SEAL, SIGN A SEAL LICENSING AGREEMENT, AND MUST MAINTAIN COMPLIANCE WITH BBB STANDARDS ON AN ONGOING BASIS. METRO NEW YORK AREA BBB ACCREDITED CHARITY SEAL HOLDERS ARE HONORED BY NAME IN A SERIES OF MEDIA DISCLOSURES IN THE SPRING AND HOLIDAY SEASONS, AS WELL AS IN A SPECIAL WEBSITE SECTION.THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ON A WIDE RANGE OF BUSINESS, CHARITY, AND CONSUMER TOPICS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL "CHARITY EFFECTIVENESS SYMPOSIUM AND ITS RELATED WORKSHOP SERIES PROVIDE NONPROFIT LEADERS WITH INFORMATION ABOUT HOW ORGANIZATIONS CAN BUILD CHARITY EFFECTIVENESS AND IMPACT. IN ADDITION, THE ANNUAL "BBB FORUM ON CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY" IS AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS ABOUT BUSINESS-RESPONSIBILITY ISSUES.

LEADERSHIP:THE FOUNDATION MAINTAINS AN EXTENSIVE "SKILL-BUILDING VOLUNTEER INTERN PROGRAM," IN WHICH VOLUNTEER INTERNS ARE TRAINED AND SUPERVISED. INTERNS LEARN ABOUT DISPUTE RESOLUTION AND CUSTOMER-SERVICE SKILLS, AS WELL AS NOT-FOR-PROFIT OVERSIGHT AND MANAGEMENT ISSUES. INTERNS ALSO PARTICIPATE IN SPECIAL CAREER PROGRAMS WHERE THEY CAN MEET AND LEARN FROM SENIOR-LEVEL BUSINESS EXECUTIVES ABOUT CAREER PATHS IN VARIOUS INDUSTRIES.
