Exalt's mission is to elevate expectations of personal success for youth ages 15-19 who've been involved in the criminal justice system. We inspire youth at a critical crossroads to believe in their worth, from the first steps in contemplation through the journey to create lasting behavioral change. Exalt provides cohesive programs with four components: employment readiness and life skills training; paid internships in youths' fields of interest; post-internship services; and an alumni network that provides ongoing access to education and career development support resources.Exalt Youth is an organization designed specifically for youth involved in the criminal justice system. We serve youth ages 15-19 annually, 71% boys and 29% girls. Program participants come from New York City's poorest zip codes, and all face a host of barriers such as multi-generational poverty, foster care involvement, low educational skills, incarcerated parent(s), racial marginalization, and living in households with little support in which they are often caregivers for siblings or sick relatives.Expenses include $420,843 in stipends to 338 students working in internships sponsored by Exalt Youth.
