To bring people of all ages together around delicious, affordable fresh food to positively impact their health and well-being. We have over 20 years of experience in developing effective nutrition education curriculum for all ages.
TEEN BATTLE CHEF is a culinary nutrition program adopted in 21 new communities in NYC, Philly and Washington DC. Served over 250 youth directly and approximately 1800 indirectly through peer sharing of new cooking skills and "Make One Share One" home activities. Our study of 30 alumni documented a 20% reduction in obesity and overweight status of these young adults in NYC up to 7 years post program.
Kidney Kitchen Recipe DevelopmentThis project is a partnership with the American Kidney Fund. Because FamilyCook Recipes are known for being internationally-focused, accessible and flavor-forward, the AKF has partnered with us to develop recipes for their Kidney Kitchen searchable website database to support kidney patients very restrictive nutrient requirements. The recipes are available free online for kidney and other patients or consumers anywhere looking for delicious, healthful recipes offering ethnic diversity. Many of these recipes are then shared by FamilycCook on Instagram and in our programming.
LOOK WHO'S COOKING is a parent and child culinary nutrition program that teaches cooking skills and food literacy skills to support youth to be 'food detectives' to recognize truly healthy choices from misleading 'health claims' on food labels. We served several new communities in NYC and rural Florida, through our training and curriculum license.
