Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE PUBLIC INTEREST OBJECTIVE OF THE FORUM IS TO PROMOTE CONSISTENT AND HIGH QUALITY STANDARDS OF FINANCIAL REPORTING AND AUDITING PRACTICES WORLD-WIDE. THE FORUM BRINGS TOGETHER FIRMS WHICH PERFORM TRANSNATIONAL AUDITS AND INVOLVES THEM CLOSELY WITH IFAC'S ACTIVITIES THEREBY SUPPORTING IFAC'S PUBLIC INTEREST PURPOSE.
FOR 2019, A SIGNIFICANT UNDERTAKING WAS THE APRIL MEETING IN TOKYO ORGANIZED IN SUPPORT OF INCREASING FOF STAKEHOLDER OUT-REACH IN THE IMPORTANT A-PAC REGION. CONNECTED WITH THE TOKYO MEETING THE FORUM OF FIRMS ORGANIZED AN IN-COUNTRY EVENT IN TOKYO WHICH OCCURRED AFTER THE MAIN FORUM OF FIRMS MEETING.APPROX 100 ATTENDEES WERE REGISTERED TO ATTEND THE IN-COUNTRY EVENT TOKYO EVENT WHICH WAS MORE THAN TWICE WHAT HAD BEEN PLANNED AND BUDGETED FOR BASED ON REGISTRATION FOR THE INAUGURAL JAPAN IN-COUNTRY EVENT IN JANUARY 2017. PLANNED ACTIVITY IN RUSSIA WAS POST-PONED IN RESPONSE TO PROFESSIONAL/REGULATORY DEVELOPMENTS INDICATING THAT DELAYING WOULD BE PRUDENT.
FOR BOTH THE APRIL (TOKYO) AND OCTOBER (LONDON) MEETINGS OF THE FORUM OF FIRMS, AN ADDITIONAL 'ELECTIVE' WAS ADDED BEFORE THE MAIN MEETINGS OFFERING FOCUSED CONSIDERATIONS ON THE IAASB QUALITY MANAGEMENT AND GROUP AUDITS PROJECTS WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS GIVEN TO CONSIDERATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH MID-TIER NETWORKS.
THE FORUM OF FIRMS RECOGNIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF BROAD STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT ON KEY TOPICS AND ISSUES RELATED TO SUPPORTING AND FURTHER ADVANCING AUDIT QUALITY.
