IN ADDITION, GBCHEALTH SERVES AS THE FOCAL POINT FOR THE PRIVATE SECTOR DELEGATION TO THE GLOBAL FUND TO FIGHT AIDS, TUBERCULOSIS AND MALARIA ("GFATM") AND THE SECRETARIAT FOR THE CORPORATE ALLIANCE FOR MALARIA IN AFRICA ("CAMA").IN A TYPICAL YEAR, GBCHEALTH WILL LEAD OR PARTICIPATE IN SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: DEVELOPMENT OF HEALTH-RELATED CORPORATE WORKPLACE POLICIES; IDENTIFYING AND BROKERING PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN BUSINESSES, GOVERNMENTS AND COMMUNITIES; FOSTERING PRIVATE SECTOR COLLABORATION WITH THE UN AND ITS GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES; HOSTING CORPORATE DIALOGUE AND STRATEGY SESSIONS; RESEARCHING AND PUBLICIZING CASE STUDIES AND BEST PRACTICES; SHARING STATUS OF PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUES IN THE GLOBAL BUSINESS COMMUNITY AND STIMULATING DIALOGUE THROUGH EXPERT-DRIVEN EVENT PANELS, TELECONFERENCES, AND PUBLICATIONS; PROVIDING GLOBAL FORUMS FOR THOUGHT LEADERS IN BUSINESS TO INTERACT AND GENERATE IDEAS AND SOLUTIONS.GBCHEALTH IS AN EXEMPT ORGANIZATION FOR FEDERAL INCOME TAX PURPOSES UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE AND IS NOT CLASSIFIED AS A PRIVATE FOUNDATION. GBCHEALTH IS SUPPORTED BY CONTRIBUTIONS AND GRANTS TIED TO SPECIFIC PROJECTS COORDINATED BY GBCHEALTH.GBCHEALTH PROVIDES PROGRAMS AS DESCRIBED BELOW:FOCAL POINT SERVICES AND COORDINATIONAS FOCAL POINT TO PRIVATE SECTOR STEERING COMMITTEE ROLES, GBCHEALTH PROVIDES ADVOCACY, CONTENT AND COORDINATION SUPPORT FOR PRIVATE SECTOR INPUT INTO KEY GLOBAL HEALTH INSTITUTIONS. IN FULFILLING EACH OF THESE ROLES, GBCHEALTH BRINGS A WIDE RANGE OF SKILLS IN THE AREAS OF STRATEGY, POLICY, RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION. IN SUMMARY: GBCHEALTH HAS SERVED AS FOCAL POINT TO THE GLOBAL FUND BOARD'S PRIVATE SECTOR DELEGATION ("PSD") SINCE 2006, MANAGING AND FACILITATING ENGAGEMENTS WITH AND BETWEEN PSD MEMBER COMPANIES AND THE FUND'S BOARD, COMMITTEES AND SECRETARIAT. PSD HAS A TIERED MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE AND IS COORDINATED BY GBCHEALTH. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, GBCHEALTH CONTINUED TO CULTIVATE STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER GLOBAL FUND CONSTITUENCIES AND STAKEHOLDERS. GBCHEALTH SERVES AS CAMA SECRETARIAT, SPEARHEADING AND COORDINATING CAMA INITIATIVES, MOBILIZING PRIVATE SECTOR STRATEGY AND ACTION ON MALARIA IN THE MOST ENDEMIC REGIONS BY STREAMLINING EFFORTS ACROSS INDUSTRY SECTORS AND COUNTRIES. CAMA IS A COALITION OF COMPANIES FROM VARIOUS INDUSTRIES PARTNERING TO MEET THE GOAL OF MALARIA ELIMINATION IN AFRICA THROUGH KNOWLEDGE-SHARING AND IN-COUNTRY COLLECTIVE ACTION.DEMOGRAPHIC DIVIDEND: IMPROVING HEALTH FOR WOMEN AND YOUTHSINCE 2017, GBCHEALTH HAS PARTNERED WITH UNFPA TO ENCOURAGE MULTI-SECTOR PARTNERSHIPS IN AFRICA FOCUSING ON HEALTH, EMPOWERMENT, EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT TO REDUCE VULNERABILITY AND SUPPORT YOUNG PEOPLE TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. SPECIFICALLY, THE COLLABORATION AIMS TO SUPPORT THE SAHEL WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT AND DEMOGRAPHIC DIVIDEND (SWEDD) PROJECT, A REGIONAL INITIATIVE SUPPORTED BY THE WORLD BANK, UNFPA, AND THE WEST AFRICA HEALTH ORGANIZATION. THE SWEDD PROJECT HAS THREE MAIN COMPONENTS: (1) GENERATE DEMAND FOR REPRODUCTIVE, MATERNAL, NEONATAL, CHILD HEALTH, AND NUTRITION SERVICES AND PRODUCTS; (2) STRENGTHEN THE REGIONAL AVAILABILITY OF COMMODITIES AND QUALIFIED HEALTH WORKERS; AND (3) STRENGTHEN ADVOCACY AND PROMOTE POLICY DEVELOPMENT.GBCHEALTH WORKS WITH COMPANIES TO ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION IN ROUNDTABLES WITH OTHER LEADERS; EXPLORE AND DEVELOP PARTNERSHIPS TO REPLICATE, EXPAND AND SCALE PROJECTS; AND UTILIZE PRIVATE SECTOR TO ADDRESS BOTTLENECKS IN PROJECT DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION.WEB-BASED AND PRINT COMMUNICATIONS VEHICLESGBCHEALTH'S WEBSITE, EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS, SOCIAL MEDIA ACTIVITY AND PRINTED MATERIALS ARE VITAL RESOURCES FOR COMPANIES. BUSINESS ACTION ON HEALTH AWARDSGBCHEALTH AWARDS ARE AMONG THE MOST COVETED HONORS IN THE CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) ARENA. AFRICAN BUSINESS COALITION FOR HEALTH IN 2017, GBCHEALTH ENTERED INTO A THREE-YEAR PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH ALIKO DANGOTE FOUNDATION (ADF) TO ESTABLISH AND LAUNCH THE AFRICAN BUSINESS COALITION FOR HEALTH (ABCHEALTH). THE COALITION WILL UNLOCK SYNERGIES TO HELP COMPANIES AND THEIR LEADERSHIP CONTRIBUTE MORE DIRECTLY TO MEETING NATIONAL AND REGIONAL HEALTH GOALS IN THE CONTEXT OF SDG AGENDA 2030 AND AFRICA AGENDA 2063 ULTIMATELY IMPROVING THE STANDARD OF LIVING, QUALITY OF LIFE, AND THE OVERALL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF ALL AFRICANS. ADF CHANNELED ITS FUNDING FOR THIS OBJECTIVE THROUGH GBCHEALTH.IN 2017 AND 2018, ADF PROVIDED GRANT FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $500,000 PER YEAR TO GBCHEALTH TO CONCEPTUALIZE, ESTABLISH AND LAUNCH ABCHEALTH, BASED ON GBCHEALTH'S INTERNATIONAL MODEL, NETWORKS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. WITH THE INCORPORATION OF ABCHEALTH IN 2018 AND ITS SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH IN 2019, THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE 2017 AGREEMENT BETWEEN ADF AND GBCHEALTH WAS ACCOMPLISHED. GOING FORWARD, ADF WILL NO LONGER CHANNEL ABCHEALTH GRANT FUNDING THROUGH GBCHEALTH BUT DO SO DIRECTLY. DURING 2019, GBCHEALTH HAD GRANT EXPENSES OF APPROXIMATELY $280,000 TO ABCHEALTH, INCLUSIVE OF $200,000 RECEIVED BY GBCHEALTH ON BEHALF OF AND TRANSFERRED TO ABCHEALTH. $200,000 INCLUDED $100,000 FROM ZENITH BANK AND $100,000 FROM ACCESS BANK.
