The Harmony Program believes that music should be an integral part of every childs education and that great expectations lead to even greater achievement.
The Harmony Program trained in excess of 60 teachers to teach daily after school music lessons to over 250 students in 7 public schools and 4 community centers in various boroughs in the City of New York. Teachers were provided with pre-program training workshops covering classroom management, lesson planning, and the organizations policies and procedures. During the year, teachers were observed and received one on one feedback from and experienced teaching professional, as well as ongoing professional development support. All students receive musical instruments, books, supplies, daily lessons, and tickers to cultural events free of charge. The program presented public performances during the year, as well as hosted visiting guest musicians who performed for the students. In March 2020, instruction began taught online in an effort to continue safely providing music education during the COVID-19 pandemic.
