Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our mission is to foster and improve the social and educational outcomes in vulnerable children and youth in urban NYC communities. We provide educational, cultural artistic programs, counseling and therapy in New York City schools, and mentoring services. We serve approximately 2000 children and families annually.
In 2019, we have been able to expand our Geared for Success program to 6 school locations in New York City. The Geared for Success program provides in-school counseling and student support services to at risk students (one on one and group support).
I'RAISE Big Brother, Big Sister Mentoring Program (BBBS program) has serviced over 100 vulnerable children in New York City. Receiving referrals from schools, clinics, rehabilitation programs and district attorney office, this program has successfully matched 85% of participants to a role model (mentor) and has provided skill building, family care giving services, and crisis intervention and in home supports to low-income families. In 2018, 90% of our BBBS participants were children with mental health issues. Our BBBS program has helped to increase social skills and coping skills in 95% of participants. 100 % of our participants have engaged in goal setting and individualized treatment plans with their mentors. High school BBBS participants who have successfully completed the program continued on to completing high school, attending college.
I'RAISE Community Art Services- In FY 2019, 100% of young people engaged in dance and performing arts. Children in the community dance program led their neighborhood in a collaborative art project. Children in community arts also collaborated with children in our School Arts in Education program to perform at I'RAISE Art Show Case held on June 19th 2020.
