THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO PRESERVE AND MAINTAIN DONALD JUDD'S HOME AND STUDIO SPACES IN MARFA, TX AND NEW YORK, NY, AND TO ADVANCE THE LEGACY OF JUDD THROUGH SCHOLARLY AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS. OVERALL, JUDD FOUNDATION MAINTAINS 22 BUILDINGS AND OVER 50,000 SQ. FT. OF JUDD'S PERMANENTLY INSTALLED SPACES IN MARFA AND NEW YORK. THE BUILDINGS INCLUDE 101 SPRING STREET, NEW YORK. 101 SPRING STREET WAS THE FIRST BUILDING OWNED BY DONALD JUDD AND IS THE LAST SINGLE-USE, CAST-IRON BUILDING LOCATED IN NEW YORK'S SOHO NEIGHBORHOOD. THE BUILDING SERVED AS HIS NEW YORK RESIDENCE AND STUDIO AND IS WHERE JUDD FIRST DEVELOPED THE CONCEPT OF PERMANENT INSTALLATION, NOW A HALLMARK OF CONTEMPORARY ART. THE WORKS ON VIEW AT 101 SPRING STREET REMAIN AS INSTALLED BY JUDD. THE FOUNDATION COMPLETED A THREE YEAR RESTORATION OF 101 SPRING STREET IN MARCH 2013, AND OPENED TO THE PUBLIC IN JUNE OF THAT YEAR. GUIDED VISITS - NEW YORK: JUDD FOUNDATION'S PRIMARY PROGRAM IN NEW YORK IS THE GUIDED VISIT PROGRAM. LED BY ARTIST GUIDES THE VISITS FOCUS ON PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE BUILDING AND OFFER VISITORS DIRECT ENGAGEMENT WITH DONALD JUDD'S ARTWORK, DESIGN, AND ARCHITECTURE. THE GUIDED VISITS PROVIDE DIRECT, FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE OF JUDD'S CONCEPT OF PERMANENT INSTALLATION. THE VISIT PROGRAM ALSO INCLUDES, 'DRAWINGS SESSIONS,' 90-MINUTE SESSIONS TO BRING THE PRACTICE OF SKETCHING BACK INTO JUDD'S STUDIO TO DRAW FROM LIFE OR SIMPLY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM THE COLLECTION TO CREATE NEW WORK. JUDD FOUNDATION PROVIDES FREE VISITS TO 101 SPRING STREET FOR NEW YORK BASED ARTISTS AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, AS WELL AS DISCOUNTED TICKETS TO SENIORS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS. 101 SPRING STREET IS OPEN FROM TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY AND JUDD FOUNDATION PROVIDES ACCESS TO OVER 10,000 PEOPLE ANNUALLY THROUGH THE VISIT PROGRAM.EXHIBITIONS - NEW YORK: IN 2015, JUDD FOUNDATION LAUNCHED A SERIES OF EXHIBITIONS ON THE GROUND FLOOR OF 101 SPRING STREET. ARCHIVES: THE JUDD FOUNDATION ARCHIVES CONTAINS RICH VISUAL AND TEXTUAL DOCUMENTATION OF DONALD JUDD'S LIFE AND WORK. THE FOUNDATION SEEKS TO BUILD ON ARCHIVAL RESEARCH BY ENGAGING COLLECTORS, GALLERIES, AND INSTITUTIONS AROUND THE WORLD IN THE EXPANSION OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT JUDD'S BODY OF WORK. CONSERVATION: JUDD FOUNDATION PRESERVES AND MAINTAINS DONALD JUDD'S PERMANENTLY INSTALLED COLLECTION IN MARFA, TEXAS AND AT 101 SPRING STREET IN NEW YORK. THE CONSERVATION STAFF REGULARLY SURVEYS THE BUILDINGS AND THE ARTWORKS HOUSED WITHIN THEM TO CREATE CONDITION REPORTS AS WELL AS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS AND CONSERVATION TREATMENT.
