Organizations Filed Purposes: MCC THEATER'S MISSION IS TO DEVELOP AND PRODUCE NEW WORK WHILE NURTURING THE DEVELOPMENT OF EMERGING VOICES. WE ENVISION MCC AS A THEATER WHERE ARTISTS - FROM STUDENTS TO PROFESSIONALS - ARE GIVEN CHALLENGING CREATIVE OPPORTUNITIES IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT ENCOURAGES RISK-TAKING. MCC IS DEDICATED TO BRINGING TOGETHER EXCEPTIONAL THEATER ARTISTS TO PRODUCE WORKS THAT REEXAMINE THE WORLD WE LIVE IN THROUGH THE UNIQUE PERSPECTIVES OF EXTRAORDINARY WRITERS.

MANHATTAN CLASS COMPANY, INC. WAS FOUNDED IN 1986 AS A NON-PROFIT, OFF BROADWAY THEATER COMPANY AND ARTISTS' SUPPORT GROUP THAT DEVELOPS NEW PLAYS, NEW TALENT, AND NEW AUDIENCES.

MCC Theater's 2019-2020 Season featured the World Premiere of Ross Golan's musical THE WRONG MAN; the New York Premiere of Theresa Rebeck's SEARED; and the New York Premiere of C.A. Johnson's ALL THE NATALIE PORTMANS.

MCC's Artistic Department continued to develop new work through Discovery Readings, PlayLabs, SongLab and projects tracked for production. In the 2019-2020 season, MCC continued the PlayLab Initiative, through experimental readings of new plays, followed by receptions with the playwrights. MCC also launched our SongLab program, which follows the PlayLab model but for musicals. Following the COVID-19 Shutdown, MCC's Artistic Department continued their work by premiering one-act plays under a new program, LiveLabs, in which plays were broadcast on our YouTube channel and followed by a post-show talkback with the creative team

MCC's Public Engagement and Education Department continued two major initiatives in the 2019-2020 season: The MCC Theater Youth Company and MCC Classroom Partnerships. Through these programs, MCC directly served approximately 1,000 young people. In the 2019-2020 season, MCC continued its Public Engagement initiative which included, an expanded talkback program, student matinees, expert panels in conversation with each production, twitter chats and other free events and workshops. Through our student matinees MCC served over 1,200 young people; all other Public Engagement initiatives served approximately 800 members of our community. MCC's Education and Public Engagement programs also continued in the wake of COVID-19 with remote teaching, rehearsals and performances for the Youth Company and virtual Public Engagement panels.
