MIDORI & FRIENDS CUSTOMIZES EACH RESIDENCY TO MEET SCHOOL GOALS AND STUDENT NEEDS. ALL STUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM IN A COMMUNITY SHOWCASE.
SIGNATURE CONCERT & WORKSHOP SERIES:THE SIGNATURE SERIES FEATURES LIVE IN-SCHOOL CONCERTS THAT SHOWCASE THE MUSIC OF DIFFERENT CULTURES AND DIVERSE GENRES LIKE CLASSICAL, JAZZ, BLUES, GOSPEL, OR GLOBAL MUSIC. PERFORMED BY WORLD-CLASS ENSEMBLES, THE PROGRAM CULTIVATES MUSIC APPRECIATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ACCESS FOR PRE-K-12TH GRADERS. FOR A DEEPER LEARNING EXPERIENCE, STUDENTS ATTEND ARTIST-LED WORKSHOPS OVER 6-10 WEEKS TO EXPLORE THE INSTRUMENTS, THE MUSIC'S HISTORY AND CULTURAL CONTEXT, REPERTOIRE AND TECHNIQUES. AT A CULMINATING CONCERT, STUDENTS EXPERIENCE THE SPECIAL THRILL OF PERFORMING ALONGSIDE THE PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS, TO PRESENT WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED FOR A FAMILY AND SCHOOL COMMUNITY AUDIENCE.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES:OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES PROVIDES CRITICAL TRAINING AND ENRICHMENT TO SUPPORT OUR TEACHING ARTISTS' EVOLUTION AS INSTRUCTORS AND AS ROLE MODELS IN THE CLASSROOM. IT CREATES AN IMPORTANT SENSE OF COMMUNITY FOR OUR TEACHING ARTISTS-WHO WORK INDEPENDENTLY IN SCHOOLS-INVITING THEM TO SHARE BEST PRACTICES AND ADVICE. GROUP WORKSHOPS, PEER MENTORING, AND OBSERVATIONS PROVIDE A CONTINUOUS FORUM IN WHICH TEACHING ARTISTS SOLIDIFY GOALS, DEVELOP STRATEGIES AND BRIDGE PROGRAMS TO CURRICULUM.
