Organizations Filed Purposes: MOTHERSTOMOTHERS is an international 501c3 non-for-profit that works in villages and slum areas, listening to the needs of mothers to create well-thought-out, affordable, sustainable projects which allow them to work and care for themselves and their children. All our projects share the common theme of addressing work life issues for mothers, education for girls, along with ongoing village-based healthcare. Some things are consistent; mothers are engaged in the project from its inception and we send the mothers from the village who choose to learn the skills needed to participate in all aspects of building and on-going management of the project. In Amacho Wato Kebele, a very poor village, many mothers had no choice but to have their babies with them as they made pottery in their homes to sell at the market to survive. Children were exposed to so much dust and smoke from 4 hours of burning the pottery that many of them had severe bronchial illness. Most children also had bacterial conjunct

In Amacho Wato Kebele, Ethiopia we have partnered with mothers and successfully built Ethiopia's first community-built and community-supported Day Care Center and Learning Center. The Day Care Center in Amacho Wato, provides 100 babies with a safe place while their mothers work. Girls who watch babies are now free to attend school at the Learning Center. The Learning Center has 182 children attending school everyday. Health issues for 400 children are addressed on a consistent basis at the center. In addition, saturday instruction of computer use for both students and teachers has been implemented. All labor and material is purchased locally so that the village and town benefit and are vested in the success of the project with the whole area becoming elevated. With the success of the two centers in Ethiopia, within two years the Ethiopian government took it upon itself to build an adjoining school grades 3 to 12.At the Day Care Center, babies have a safe place to stay while their mothers work. Girls who previously watched these young children are now free to attend school. Healthcare is provided on a consistent and cost effective basis at the center. Mothers can breastfeed during the day and attend workshops in the evening on a variety of subjects. In year 2014, construction began on a second day care center in Awash Afar, Ethiopia. Construction not complete by December 2014. Once construction is complete, it is expected to accomodate day care for over 100 babies daily. All overhead costs are expected to be covered by the working mothers.

Travelers Market: MotherstoMothers goal is to have each project be a self-sustaining venture within three years of completion. In 2012 MotherstoMothers and the local residents built a Travelers Market that services the whole village. Within 3 years the Travelers Market will support the centers.
