THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH ACTION FUND CONDUCTS NON-PARTISAN ISSUE ADVOCACY AND ELECTORAL ENGAGEMENT TO ADVANCE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH, RIGHTS, AND JUSTICE IN STATES AND CITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. NIRH ACTION FUND BUILDS POLITICAL POWER AT THE LOCAL AND STATE LEVEL TO ADVANCE REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM. WE WORK ON A FULL RANGE OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE ISSUES - AMONG THEM, ACCESS TO ABORTION, CONTRACEPTION, AND HEALTHY PREGNANCIES - TO ENSURE THAT ALL WOMEN HAVE ACCESS TO THE HIGHEST QUALITY REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE, WHEN AND WHERE THEY NEED IT. WE DON'T JUST PUSH BACK AGAINST RESTRICTIONS ON ABORTION AND CONTRACEPTION; WE FIGHT FOR A SOCIETY IN WHICH EVERYONE HAS THE FREEDOM AND ABILITY TO CONTROL THEIR REPRODUCTIVE AND SEXUAL LIVES.
WE WORK DIRECTLY IN NEW YORK AND PROVIDE SUPPORT TO OUR PARTNERS IN OTHER STATES TO BUILD POWER IN CITIES AND STATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY BY HELPING PRO-CHOICE MAYORS, CITY COUNCILS, STATE LEGISLATORS, AND RESIDENTS PROTECT AND EXPAND OUR FREEDOMS, FROM PASSING LAWS PROTECTING ABORTION PROVIDERS FROM HARASSMENT TO PREVENTING ANTI-CHOICE GROUPS FROM DECEIVING WOMEN SEEKING ABORTIONS. AND, JUST AS IMPORTANTLY, WE HELP ENSURE THAT THESE POSITIVE LAWS ARE ACTUALLY ENFORCED. IN 2017, WE FOCUSED OUR EFFORTS ON EXPANDING ACCESS TO ABORTION AND CONTRACEPTION, AS WELL AS IMPROVING MATERNAL MORTALITY RATES AND SEX EDUCATION ACROSS NEW YORK BY PROMOTING LEGISLATIVE AND ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES. IN ADDITION, WE ENGAGED IN VOTER EDUCATION CAMPAIGNS REGARDING CANDIDATES' POSITIONS ON OUR ISSUES, CONDUCTED OUTREACH TO PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS: THE MEDIA, AND BROUGHT MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO ALBANY TO TAKE PART IN A LOBBY DAY.
