CSforALL is committed to partnering with the larger computer science education movement to increase the quality and reach of CS education in pursuit of high quality CS education for all. During the 2019 year, CSforALL engaged multiple state and regional partners to expand our SCRIPT workshops for school districts in a facilitator-based model. With support of the regional facilitators, CSforALL expanded services to exceed 200 school districts served by SCRIPT, most notably in Rhode Island where over 75% of districts have experienced a SCRIPT planning workshop through the efforts of a state-based team. CSforALL also convenes the national community annually at the CSforALL summit, and in 2019 hosted the CSforALL summit in Salt Lake City, Utah. The summit featured the launch of a regional ecosystems approach to CS education as well as a new partnership with the US Air Force to create pathways for JROTC cadets in a pilot program focused on cybersecurity education.
CSforALLs mission is to make high-quality computer science an integral part of the educational experience of all K-12 students and teachers in the United States and to support student pathways to college and career success.
In 2019, CSforALL had major program accomplishments in the service of school districts through our SCRIPT model, collecting commitments for the CSforALL summit, and curation of the national RPPforCS research community. The SCRIPT program hosted the first CSforALL Symposium, providing professional development for a new cohort of trained SCRIPT facilitators from 13 states. The Symposium, hosted in La Jolla California in partnership with Dell Legacy of Good and the University of California San Diego, engaged over 200 educators and school leaders to create plans to expand access to computer science education within their buildings. In October of 2019, CSforALL announced a slate of over 250 new commitments to CS education, including 43 commitments from the host state of Utah. The CSforALL collaboration with SageFox Consulting Group curates a national community of over 70 National Science Foundation funded research projects. In 2019, the RPPforCS project hosted the community at an event co-located with the RESPECT conference and curated theme studies for the nature of the research and its impact on the projects. CSforALL is focused on school districts as an important unit of change for rigorous, inclusive, and sustainable computer science education. The SCRIPT supports systems-level change by addressing five key areas: (1) Leadership, (2) Teacher Capacity and Development, (3) Curriculum and Materials Selection and Refinement, (4) Partners, and (5) Community. During the 2017 calendar year, CSforALL engaged over 30 school districts from across the country in a process to create plans for CS education. The CSforALL Summit is an annual convening of the national K-12 computer science education community. The 2018 summit was held at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and featured commitments from more than 170 organizations from every sector to make CS learning a reality for all students in the United States.
