Organizations Filed Purposes: NATURE IS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT OF EVERY NEW YORKER. NYRP PARTNERS WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES, PUBLIC AGENCIES, AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO ACQUIRE, CREATE, MAINTAIN, AND PROGRAM PUBLIC OPEN SPACES. OUR SUSTAINED PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITIES PROMOTES STRONG SOCIAL TIES AND COLLECTIVE ACTION. WE ASPIRE TO EXPAND OUR FOOTPRINT AND IMPACT IN ALL FIVE BOROUGHS TO MAKE A SAFER, HEALTHIER, AND HAPPIER CITY.

IN FISCAL YEAR 2019, NEW YORK RESTORATION PROJECT INVESTED $1,780,870 IN PARK IMPROVEMENTS. THESE COSTS, WHICH ARE CAPITALIZED AND THEREFORE ARE NOT PART OF OUR STATEMENT OF ACTIVITIES, ARE MANAGED BY OUR IN-HOUSE CAPITAL TEAM. THIS SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF OUR OVERALL OPERATIONS REPRESENTS 20% OF OUR ACTIVITIES IF THESE COSTS ARE INCLUDED IN OUR FUNCTIONAL EXPENSES. ALSO, IN FISCAL YEAR 2019, WE BROUGHT UNDER-RESOURCED NEIGHBORHOODS GREATER ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL JUSTICE BY CLEANING, GREENING, IMPROVING, AND REDESIGNING GREEN SPACES THROUGHOUT THE LEAST GREEN AND MOST ECONOMICALLY DEPRESSED NEIGHBORHOODS IN NEW YORK CITY. FURTHER, WE: TAUGHT BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT AND NUTRITION THROUGH PROGRAMS AND WORKSHOPS; PROVIDED A CLEAN, SAFE PLACE FOR GARDENERS TO GROW FRESH, ORGANIC FRUITS, VEGETABLES, AND HERBS; GOT RESIDENTS OUT AND MOVING THROUGH FITNESS CLASSES AND PUBLIC PROGRAMMING; STEWARDED AND EXPANDED THE URBAN CANOPY; OFFERED FAMILIES A PLACE TO HOLD CELEBRATIONS; EXPANDED WATERFRONT ACCESS IN NORTHERN MANHATTAN; AND PROVIDED SENIORS WITH A PLACE TO SOCIALIZE WITH NEIGHBORS.
