Organizations Filed Purposes: NYSAFAH is a non-profit trade association representing the affordable housing industry in New York State. Our principal goal is to promote the development and preservation of affordable housing throughout New York. (Continued on Schedule O)We seek to address the affordable housing crisis by working with our partners in government to ensure that affordable housing programs are cost-effective and meet the needs of communities around the State. We strive to promote policies to ensure that housing financed through the State and City of New York is resilient, energy-efficient and integrated.

To promote the development of affordable housing.

NYSAFAH's programmatic goals vary slightly from year to year and this year took on roles in establishing the nationwide Council of Independent State Housing Associations (CISHA), which drives critical advocacy work on federal housing policies and housing tax credits. NYSAFAH supports a broad array of programs in both New York State and New York City and is currently advocating for a comprehensive housing platform that would invest more in economically distressed communities and utilize development to catalyze neighborhood growth and create jobs, while providing safe, quality homes for low- and middle-income New Yorkers.

NYSAFAH has steadily worked to expand and diversify both membership and activities with its NYSAFAH 2G, to engage younger professionals in the affordable housing industry, and a statewide MWBE initiative to strengthen and increase participation of minority and women owned businesses in the affordable housing industry.
