OHBM INC. MISSION IS TO PLAY A PROACTIVE ROLE IN LEVERAGING OUR COLLECTIVE TALENT, ABILITY & ENERGY TOWARD ACHIEVING MEANINGFUL GAINS IN OUR LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES. THE ORGANIZATION'S INITIATIVES FOCUS ON EDUCATION THROUGH MENTORING, WEALTH BUILDING STRATEGIES, FOSTERING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & RAISING AWARENESS OF HEALTH ISSUES AFFECTING OUR COMMUNITIES.
The organization continued to play a proactive role in leveraging collective talent, ability, and energy toward achieving meaningful gains in our low income communities. This included awarding scholarships to students, mentoring students and providing counseling. The organization was also involved in economic development activities and raising awareness of health issues affecting the communities.
Mentoring and Junior 100 and Beautillion: In 2019, One Hundred Black Men's mentoring program reached over 100 participants at three Eagle Academy Campuses One Hundred Black Men recruited, trained and provided background checks for 100 mentors. The mentoring program provided comprehensive services for the youth, which included trips, health and wellness workshops, and nutritional meals. Both the mentees and volunteers received uniformed T-Shirts for their participation in the program. Junior 100 and Beautillion: The program provides a robust, muti-tracking training program that measures and tracks the participants' interest and growth in corporate, entrepreneurial disciplines and real world experience through job shadowing. The program culminates with the scholars and escorts participating in a Beautillion.
Scholarships: For over 31 years, One Hundred Black Men has provided scholarships to high school seniors who have been accepted into accredited colleges or universities, based on academic performance, SAT scores, and community services. Food Program: One Hundred Black Men worked with church groups and community leaders to provide 10,000 meals to 5,000 families of four. Health and Wellness: One Hundred Black Men conducted 1 Citywide Health and Wellness Town Hall meetings.
