Organizations Filed Purposes:
To bring traditional opera and newly commissioned opera to new audiences in non-traditional venues and to give opera performance singing opportunities. To teach the beauty of opera to elementary school children.
Monthly performances among the OOT chapters in 18 cities. New audiences and new singers given the opportunity to perform. A total of 450 performers and 2200 audience participants. New Brew series of contemporary opera. Other community performances for other nonprofit organizations.
Immersive Opera Project - investment in new forms of performance media. Performance included "Looking at You" in partnership with HERE, and "This is the Ground" an interactive performance at the Old Stone House in Brooklyn, open for free to the public.
The Playground Operas program is a school day program that immerses students in the creation, production and performance of an opera. With the guidance of professionals working in the field today, students explore the operatic experience from the first moment of an opera's creation to the exciting culmination of its performance. The stage? Their own schoolyard playground. The 3rd and 4th Graders at PS129 in Harlem produced and performed The Magic Flute
