Organizations Filed Purposes:
To discover, cultivate and develop emerging European writers and artists by staging their works in New York City theatre.
Due to the extraordinary challenges presented by the global Coronavirus pandemic, a portion of Origin's programs were postponed or re-envisioned to support social distancing guidelines. Origin Theatres 12th annual 1st Irish Festival took place as originally planned from January 7 to February 3, 2020. Events at 15 venues across the city were well attended by audiences of close to 12,000 and showcased the breadth and depth of Irish theatre and artistic work. Origins annual Bloomsday Breakfast event features well-known artists performing staged readings of James Joyces literary masterpiece Ulysses. Due to social distancing restrictions on all public gatherings, Origin transitioned the event--now in its 7th year--into a uniquely trans-Atlantic online version. The hour-long show, featuring staged and remotely accessed online pre-recorded appearances and performances, aired on Tuesday June 16, with an audience of over 900.
