THE 70,000 VOLUME COLLECTION IS OPEN TO EVERYONE FREE OF CHARGE, IN OPEN STACKS. DURING THIS YEAR, WE CONTINUED TO BUILD DIGITAL ASSETS, ADDING TO THE COLLECTION OF RARE AND IMPORTANT MATERIALS AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE; PRODUCED OUR ANNUAL SHOWCASE EXHIBIT OF NEW BOOKS OF POETRY FROM OVER 700 PUBLISHERS; AND ADDED OVER 3,000 VOLUMES TO THE PERMANENT COLLECTION.
LITERARY PROGRAMS:POETS HOUSE HOSTED HUNDREDS OF EVENTS INCLUDING A CURATED SERIES OF PANEL DISCUSSIONS, READINGS, AND EXHIBITIONS FEATURING ACCLAIMED AND EMERGING TALENT FROM THE US AND AROUND THE WORLD; WRITING WORKSHOPS, MASTER CLASSES AND AN INTENSIVE RESIDENCY PROGRAM FOR EMERGING POETS. THROUGH ITS LITERARY PARTNERS PROGRAM THE ORGANIZATION WELCOMED POETS, PUBLISHERS AND FELLOW LITERARY ORGANIZATIONS PRESENTING READINGS AND OTHER EVENTS. WELCOMING OVER 10,000 CHILDREN, YOUTH AND EDUCATORS EACH YEAR, THE POETS HOUSE CHILDREN'S ROOM OFFERS FREE CLASS TRIPS, FAMILY READING TIMES, A WEEKLY TINY POETS TIME. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES POETRY AND WRITING INSTRUCTION TO STUDENTS AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND HIGH SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT NYC.
