THROUGH PROJECT EATS WE ARE EXPANDING THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO CAN LIVE HEALTHY LIVES AND THRIVE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES BY: - OPERATED 7 SMALL-PLOT, GROUND-LEVEL COMMUNITY-BASED AGRICULTURAL FARMS LOCATED IN NEW YORK CITY'S BROOKLYN, QUEENS, AND MANHATTAN BOROUGHS. - AFTER EXTENSIVE PLANNING WITH REAL ESTATE DEVELOPERS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS WE OPENED TWO ROOF-TOP FARMS, ONE IN MANHATTAN AND ONE IN THE BRONX. [SEE CONTINUATION ON SCHEDULE O]- OPERATED 6 WEEKLY FARM/FARMACY STANDS IN COMMUNITIES WHERE WE FARM AND 2 FARM STANDS AT FAMERS MARKETS IN MANHATTAN AND BROOKLYN. - PROVIDED SCHOOL-BASED AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS, CLASSROOM CURRICULUM, AND SCHOOL-WIDE PROJECTS AT 5 PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS REACHING APPROXIMATELY 300 STUDENTS.- PROVIDED WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT TO 13 HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH WHO WORKED 9 WEEKS DURING THE SUMMER AND 5 POST-HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH WHO WORKED 20 WEEKS DURING SUMMER AND FALL AS FARMERS AND FARM STAND SALES TRAINEES. - OPERATED FARM AND FARMACY STANDS IN DIVERSE AND UNCONVENTIONAL LOCATIONS THAT CONTINUED TO USE INNOVATIVE PRICING MODELS IN ORDER TO SELL OUR FOOD AT "INCOME APPROPRIATE" PRICES, MAKING THE SAME FRESH, HIGH QUALITY FOOD AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE WHO LIVE ON VERY DIFFERENT INCOME LEVELS.- CONTINUED PARTNERSHIPS WITH OUR LARGE AND DIVERSE GROUP OF PARTNERS WORKING IN HEALTH CARE, HOUSING, EDUCATION, REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT, CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND OTHER AREAS WHO SHARE THEIR RESOURCES, PARTNER ON PROGRAMS, AND ENCOURAGE THEIR CONSTITUENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN PROJECT EATS.- CONTINUED TO PROVIDE OUR FARMACY STAND AND PROGRAM TWICE A WEEK AT TWO LOCATIONS, BOTH MEDICAL PROVIDERS WHO WE PARTNER WITH WHICH ENABLED PATIENTS TO RECEIVE AND FILL FRESH VEGETABLE PRESCRIPTIONS AT OUR FARM STAND/FARMACIES IN THE BROWNSVILLE AND EAST NEW YORK COMMUNITIES WHERE THE FOOD IS GROWN. WE CONTINUED TO ARRANGE AND PROVIDE PRESCRIPTIONS SUBSIDIES SO PATIENTS DID NOT PAY FOR THEIR PRESCRIPTIONS. - CONTINUED TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS SUCH AS FREE SATURDAY BREAKFASTS FOR ELDERS, CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, WORKSHOPS AND DEMONSTRATIONS, COMMUNITY FARM DINNERS AND COMMUNITY FESTIVALS TO ENCOURAGE RESIDENTS TO COME TOGETHER IN COMMON PURPOSE, SHARED ACTIONS, AND EXPERIENCES THAT FOSTER THEIR SENSE OF BELONGING AND CARE FOR ONE ANOTHER.
