RILM IS DEDICATED TO DISSEMINATING MUSICOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE AND FOSTERING COMMUNICATIONS AMONG ALL RESEARCH AND PERFORMANCE COMMUNITIES.
Repertoire International de Litterature Musicale, Inc. ("RILM") was originally organized in 1966 as an international collaborative project of the International Musicological Society (Switzerland) and the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (United States), as an organization committed to a comprehensive and accurate representation of music scholarship in all countries and languages and across all disciplinary and cultural boundaries. RILM was formally incorporated as a New York not-for-profit organization in 2000. In 2007, the International Council for Traditional Music (Austria) joined as the third sponsoring body. Through its global network and advanced information technologies, RILM is dedicated to disseminating knowledge and fostering communications among all research and performance communities. Its flagship publication, RILM Abstracts of Music Literature, is a comprehensive international bibliography of writings on music comprising indexed and abstracted content across three centuries of publications on music from around the world. RILM released RILM Music Encyclopedias, an annually expanding full-text compilation of reference works, in December 2015. RILM released RILM Abstracts of Music Literature with Full Text in the summer of 2016, and MGG Online in November 2016. In July 2019, RILM acquired the remaining assets of the James Adrian Music Company, including the "Index to Printed Music." RILM is planning to release new publications of music-related scholarship in coming years.
