THROUGH EXHIBITIONS, COLLECTIONS, PROGRAMS AND OUR WEBSITE, THE MUSEUM EXPLORES THE ROLE OF TALL BUILDINGS AS OBJECTS OF DESIGN, PRODUCTS OF TECHNOLOGY, SITES OF CONSTRUCTION, INVESTMENTS IN REAL ESTATE, PLACES OF WORK AND RESIDENCE AND POWERFUL CULTURAL SYMBOLS. THE GALLERY IS A WORK OF CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE BY ROGER DUFFY OF SKIDMORE, OWINGS AND MERRILL. USING THE REFLECTIONS OF A MIRROR- POLISH STAINLESS STEEL FLOOR AND CEILING, THE DESIGN CREATES AN IMPRESSION OF ENDLESS VERTICAL TOWERS.
EXHIBITIONS - THE MUSEUM HAD ONE MAJOR EXHIBITION: "HOUSING DENSITY - TENEMENTS TO TOWERS AND WAS PREPARING ITS EXHIBITION SUPERTALL! 2020 WHEN THE PANDEMIC CLOSED THE MUSEUM TO THE PUBLIC.
PROGRAMS - THE MUSEUM OFFERS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS SUCH AS FREE CURATOR'S TOURS; MONTHLY AUTHOR'S TALKS HELD IN OUR GALLERIES; PANEL PROGRAMS AND LECTURES FOR PROFESSIONAL AND GENERAL-INTEREST AUDIENCES. IT ALSO HOSTS FAMILY PROGRAMS ON SATURDAY MORNINGS, IN WHICH CHILDREN ENGAGE WITH AN EDUCATOR TO EXPLORE THE PRINCIPLES OF URBANISM, ARCHITECTURE, AND ENGINEERING THROUGH HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES.
EDUCATIONAL TOURS - THE MUSEUM PROVIDES TOURS OF ITS EXHIBITS AND COLLECTIONS TO GROUPS FROM ELEMENTARY-THROUGH COLLEGE-LEVEL CLASSES AND SENIOR GROUPS DURING SPECIAL MORNING HOURS AND ALL DAY ON MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS. EDUCATORS LEAD TOURS (UP TO 30 STUDENTS) THAT INCORPORATE LEARNING FROM ACROSS THE NEW YORK STATE CURRICULUM, INCLUDING SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, THE ARTS, AND SOCIAL STUDIES. STUDENTS LEAVE WITH AN APPRECIATION OF SKYSCRAPERS AND THEIR ROLE IN SOCIETY AS WELL AS A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE METHODS OF CONSTRUCTING TALL BUILDINGS.
