THE SOCIETY PRESERVES DOCUMENTS AND ARTIFACTS OF THE COLONIAL PERIOD, PUBLISHES PAPERS HELD IN ITS COLLECTION, PLACES MEMORIALS AT HISTORICAL SITES, PARTICIPATES IN PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCES, AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRESENTS AN ANNUAL BOOK AWARD.
