Organizations Filed Purposes: TO CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT SINGULAR IN ITS ABILITY TO INVIGORATE ARTISTS AND INNOVATORS AND THEIR WORK, AND TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUSTAINABILITY AND RESOURCEFUL PRESERVATION OF ONE OF THE OLDEST ORGANIC FAMILY FARMS ON THE EAST COAST.

CREATIVE RESIDENCY:WRITERS, THEATRE MAKERS, VISUAL ARTISTS, MUSICIANS, DANCERS, AND ARTISTS OF OTHER DISCIPLINES TAKE PART IN ONE- TO TWO-WEEK RESIDENCIES AT SPACE TO CREATE AWAY FROM THE STRESS AND NOISE OF EVERYDAY LIFE AND TO BE INTHE COMPANY OF OTHER ARTISTS AND ACTIVISTS. RESIDENCIES ARE GRANTED TO INDIVIDUALS OR GROUPS (OF UP TO FOUR PEOPLE) WHO INCLUDE DETAILED AND SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES FOR THEIR TIME IN RESIDENCE AND PROVE OUTSTANDING ARTISTIC MERIT. RESIDENCIES ARE CENTERED AROUND THREE FARM FRESH MEALS PER DAY. THE PROGRAM SERVED 58 ARTISTS IN 2019 INCLUDING NADIA BOWERS, DAVID CALE, HEATHER CHRISTIAN, CATHERINE COHEN, RUPI KAUR, NANCY PAPPAS, CELISSE HENDERSON, KYLIE MANNING, SHAKINA NAYFACK AND KEITH RANDOLPH SMITH.

THE WORKING FARM:THE WORKING FARM IS SPACE'S RESIDENT WRITERS' GROUP,OFFERING 7 PLAYWRIGHTS AND 1 COMPOSER/LYRICIST A FULLY SUBSIDIZED NON-CONSECUTIVE FIVE-WEEK RESIDENCY OVER THE COURSE OF SPACE'S JUNE-OCTOBER SEASON, IN WHICH EACHFOCUSES ON THE CREATION OF A NEW WORK FOR THE THEATRE. RESIDENCIES ARE CENTERED AROUND THREE FARM-FRESH MEALS PER DAY AND CULMINATING IN SPACE'S CENTERPIECE EVENT THE ROVING DINNER: 8 NEW PLAY EXCERPTS, SERVED WITH AN 8 COURSE MEAL AT 8 LOCATIONS AROUND THE FARM. THE 2019 WORKING FARM MEMBERS WERE: KEVIN ARTIGUE, KATE BENSON, VICHET CHUM, MIA CHUNG, JAHNA FERRON-SMITH, DAVID GREENSPAN, OR MATIAS AND JENNY RACHEL WEINER. IN APRIL 2019, SPACE ALSO PRESENTED 5 READINGS OF NEW PLAYS FROM 2018 WORKING FARM PLAYWRIGHTS WILL ARBERY, STEFANIE ZADRAVEC, DONNETTA LAVINIA GRAY AND DAVE HARRIS.

THE FAMILY RESIDENCY:A FULLY SUBSIDIZED AND UNIQUE RESIDENCY FOUNDED IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE LILLY AWARDS FOUNDATION THAT SUPPORTS WORKING ARTIST PARENTS AND THEIR CHILDREN. SPACE FACILITATES CREATIVE AND NATURE-FOCUSED PROGRAMMING FOR THE CHILDREN, CULMINATING IN AN INFORMAL GROUP SHARE. SIMULTANEOUSLY SPACE SUPPORTS THE WORKING ARTIST PARENTS BY CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT WITH STRUCTURED TIME AND SPACE TO CREATE (AS WELL AS STRUCTURED TIME AND SPACE TO BE WITH THEIR CHILDREN). THIS PROGRAM OCCURS TWICE PER SEASON, LASTING ONE WEEK PER OCCURRENCE, SERVING 4-5 WORKING ARTIST PARENTS PER WEEK. THE RESIDENCY IS CENTERED AROUND THREE FARM-FRESH MEALS PER DAY. IN 2018 THE PROGRAM SUPPORTED 12 ARTIST-PARENTS AND 11 CHILDREN WITH TWO, WEEK-LONG RESIDENCIES. RESIDENTS INCLUDED SHEILA CALLAGHAN, CODY CARVEL, AVA CHIN, ADRIANE COLBURN, HILLARY FRANK, SARAH GANCHER, JULIA JARCHO, CHRISTOPHER VU GANDIN LE, NATALIA NAKAZAWA, REBECCA TRAISTER, HOPE WABUKE, DARIUS WADIA.
