THE PLAY BECAME ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR PRODUCTIONS OF THE SEASON WITH AN AVERAGE ATTENDANCE OF OVER 90%, REACHING A WIDE RANGE OF AUDIENCES, INCLUDING AFRO-LATINXS, PEOPLE FAMILIAR WITH THE BOOK, AND FIRST-SECOND GENERATION DOMINICANS.CRITICALLY, THE NEW YORK TIMES NOTED, "IN A SPANISH-LANGUAGE STAGE ADAPTATION OF THE JUNOT DAZ NOVEL, THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN TWO DOMINICAN MEN IS A TESTING GROUND FOR COMPETING VISIONS OF MASCULINITY." CONTRIBUTING TO THE SEASON'S MOMENTUM, ALONG WITH THE NEW YORK PREMIERE OF THE AWARD-WINNING PERPETUAL PEACE BY JUAN MAYORGA AND SUCH AUDIENCE FAVORITES AS LA GRINGA, NO ONE WRITES TO THE COLONEL, EL QUIJOTE, THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA, WE HAD THE NEW YORK TIMES CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED, FILOMENA MARTURANO -- AN ADAPTATION OF EDUARDO DE FILIPPO'S PLAY BY REPERTORIO'S ROBERT FEDERICO, RAFAEL SNCHEZ, AND LEYMA LPEZ.
