SEO's mission is to create a more equitable society by delivering superior programs for closing the academic and career opportunity gaps for young people from undeserved and/or underrepresented backgrounds. We do this by providing high school and college students with the academic skills and personal tools to take full ownership of their education, and navigate and graduate college. We also recruit and prepare college students and young professionals to enter leading companies and advance in their careers.
Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) provides superior educational and career programs to young people from underserved and underrepresented communities to maximize their opportunities for college and career success.
SEO Scholars is an eight-year program that helps low income public high school students to and through college with over 90% college graduation rate. In high school; scholars receive 720 hours of rigorous instructions in English and Math on Saturday, in the summer and after school. In college, scholars receive ongoing one to one academic, personal and career support. SEO Scholars exceed or match the SAT scores of all college bound seniors nationally, eliminating the achievement gap and 100% are accepted to four-year colleges. For fiscal year 2019 SEO Scholars served 1936 students: 976 in New York and 110 San Francisco in addition to 850 college students at 198 campuses across 26 states.
SEO is the nations premier summer internship and training program targeting talented African American, Hispanic and Native American college students. Each year SEO career recruits, interviews, selects and trains several hundred interns and fellows for partners in banking, law, alternative investment and corporate leadership. In 2018 and 2019 over 950 SEO interns were recruited for 130 partners nationwide and 80% of the eligible interns received full time job offers. To date SEO has recruited over 8,900 interns for its U.S. partners.
SEO alternative investments provides education, exposure, training and mentoring opportunities to talented professionals, historically underrepresented in the alternative investment sector. The initiative includes: the SEO alternative investment fellowship program (AIFP); internships with alternative investment firms; and the SEO alternative investment conference. More than 650 individuals attended SEOS 2019 alternative investment conference. Since inception 90% of eligible fellows have received full time job offers in the alternative investment sector.
