Organizations Filed Purposes:
Founded in 1988, the Network's mission is to increase the public's understanding of supportive housing; share best practices that continually improve supportive housing's effectiveness; and, most importantly, encourage the creation of enough supportive housing to end homelessness among the most vulnerable New Yorkers. The Network works toward these goals through advocacy, training, technical assistance, public education, research, and policy analysis.

2019 accomplishments include changes to the 4th iteration of the NYS Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative RFP to ensure it prioritizes proposals to house the most vulnerable and double funding for the Homeless Housing Assistance Program; in NYC, we worked with legislators to add language to rent stabilization reform laws closing a loophole that let landlords dramatically raise rents and evict supportive housing tenants without cause, leading to a huge loss in scattered-site units. Additionally, the Network held its largest one-day conference in history drawing over 1800 registrants, including more than 20 panels and workshops featuring the leading lights of our community and launched a series of trainings in how to successfully site supportive housing. The Network also continued to co-lead the NYC Coalition on the Continuum of Care, which oversees federal homeless assistance funding.
