FOOD PANTRYTHROUGH AN INNOVATIVE CUSTOMER-COOPERATIVE SUPERMARKET-STYLE FOOD PANTRY, THE ORGANIZATION'S WEST SIDE CAMPAIGN AGAINST HUNGER PROGRAM ALLEVIATES HUNGER AND CREATES A CULTURE THAT PROMOTES SELF-RELIANCE. IN FISCAL 2019, THE FOOD PANTRY PROVIDED 1,010,964 MEALS TO 21,010 INDIVIDUALS.
MOBILE FOOD PANTRYWEST SIDE CAMPAIGN AGAINST HUNGER'S (WSCAH) MOBILE MARKET USES A STATE-OF-THE-ART TRUCK TO BRING HIGH QUALITY, HEALTHY FOOD AND RESOURCES DIRECTLY TO TARGETED COMMUNITIES IN NORTHERN MANHATTAN AND THE BRONX NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE THE MEAL GAP IS THE HIGHEST IN THE CITY. THE MOBILE MARKET OPERATES IN COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITY GROUPS INCLUDING HEALTH CENTERS, SENIOR CENTERS, OFFICES OF LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS, AND RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS, AND LEVERAGES THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITY TO BECOME A TRUSTED AND RELIABLE SOURCE OF FOOD FOR THE COMMUNITY. IN FY19, WSCAH'S MOBILE MARKET SERVED 3,485 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS.
SOCIAL SERVICES COUNSELING IN ADDITION TO FOOD, WEST SIDE CAMPAIGN AGAINST HUNGER'S SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAM CONNECTS CUSTOMERS TO BENEFITS AND RESOURCES TO HELP THEM ON THEIR PATHWAY TO STABILITY AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY. IN FISCAL 2019, WSCAH SCREENED 4,998 HOUSEHOLDS FOR THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR BENEFITS, SUCH AS SNAP, HEALTH INSURANCE, FINANCIAL COUNSELING, HOUSING, LEGAL, AND VOCATIONAL SERVICES.
