WED'S MISSION IS TO EMPOWER THE 4 BILLION WOMEN ACROSS THE GLOBE TO BE CATALYSTS OF CHANGE AND UPLIFT THE 250 MILLION GIRLS LIVING IN POVERTY GLOBALLY. IN ADDITION TO A MISSION OF EMPOWERMENT, WED IS COMMITTED TO GATHERING A THINK TANK OF INSPIRING WOMEN LEADERS WHO CAN AMPLIFY OUR MESSAGE OF EXPANDING BUSINESSES WITH SOCIAL-GOOD INITIATIVES IN COMMUNITIES AROUND THE WORLD.
The Womens Entrepreneurship Organization (WEDO) Summit at the United Nations achievement highlights include: Las Vegas, NV: WED helped open up vast networking opportunities for women in business - to enrich their current and future businesses. Canada: $2,500 student scholarships were granted, as well as a $2,500 Grant to a new and promises entrepreneur. 50 students attended the event free of charge to learn more about women's entrepreneurship. San Francisco: WED gave 20 girls dance scholarships; as well as funding support for homeless teenagers in the area. New York City: WED donated over 1,000 microloans to impoverished women so they can start their own businesses, as well as networking opportunities to find support and mentorship. South Africa: WED donated over 1,000 microloans to impoverished women so they can start their own businesses, as well as networking opportunities to find support and mentorship. Cameroon: WED started a partnership with the OASIS Incubator to mentor young female entrepreneurs and help with funding in their ideas and workshops to educate them in financial literacy. Congo: WED created a database for female entrepreneurs to be assigned to mentorship programs, and gain access to business communities for support Zimbabwe: 15 women were trained to make soap in partnership with Masvingo Polytechnic, expanding their job opportunities and networking. Zambia: A mentoring program for young female entrepreneurs was started by WED to open up access to networking and opportunities to gain funding for their businesses. Cote D'ivoire: There were several propositions of collaboration at this event. The intention of the event this year was to introduce WED to the area and for all the participants to leave the event inspired by the possibility of being an entrepreneur. Ghana: WED held several networking events in Ghana to allow business owners, professionals, youth ambassadors and many more to connect and give female entrepreneurs a platform. Uganda: Events were held to promote grassroots women entrepreneurs, and formed important partnerships with organizations such as the Cherry Tree Foundation to continue the furtherment of these womens' businesses and networking opportunities. Dar es Salam: Women in business were given marketing and mentoring opportunities through workshops, and conferences. Ndoto Hub was one of the major sponsorships that helped the event come together and open the pathways for these women. Mozambique: "WED in the Park" was held here, with over 80 men, women and children in attendance, providing a platform for 31 female entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas to future employers, professionals and government representatives. Angola: With over 100 people in attendance, the event showcased the work accomplished by WED, and their efforts to launch a portal for easy access to networking for female entrepreneurs. Oman: An initiative to empower girls and women in having a choice in arranged marriages was announced by a WEDO ambassador, setting it in motion for the future. Mongolia: An event that garnered 300 people, centered on the advocacy of mentoring women interested in starting their own business in a country with limited opportunities. The event focused on networking and conveying that the women of that community had a system to lean on for support, as well as blossoming opportunities. Yangon: The event had over 300 attendees, promoting opportunities for business funding and branding training. 20 women were given funding and 5o women from rural communities were given branding training for their current or future businesses. Philippines: Two events were held that garnered a collective 1,000 plus attendees, in support of funding for women entrepreneurs, specifically a women-led space for them to apply what they are given and learning in mentorship - as well as funding for entrepreneur fairs for high school students interested in starting their own businesses. Sydney: The event in Sydney promoted higher education for the future - for young girls. It began an important conversation that not many young girls hear - of ambition, of drive, of success. Dusseldorf, Germany: Award was collected for Young Women's Entrepreneurship award, with over 200 people in attendance. San Gwann, Malta: WED held events and workshops to open up access to blockchain for women to learn, with over 50 people in attendance. Medellin, America del Sur: WED in Medellin provided 200 women with 50% discounts for accounting and legal advice to enhance their start-ups. Paraguay: Over 200 women attended the events held, and jobs were found for women in need and searching through WED's mentorship and help with networking. La Paz, Bolivia: Through a partnership with the Catholic Bolivian University, there are already two programs created to support a community of female entrepreneurs and students. there are two initiatives set in motion to improve the opportunities for study and development of women: : "Arena Emprendedora", a program of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurships to train skills to strengthen your entrepreneurial attitude, gain security to move in areas of uncertainty, and the Women's Scholarships, to motivate the entry of women to university studies in technology areas.
WED Cote d'Ivoire AFRICA funded 40 women micro enterprises. WED San Francisco presented 20 disadvantaged girls scholarships for a summer dance program WED Idaho funded 25 high school students to participate in a business pitch competition. WED Colombia provided 200 women founders accounting and legal advice to enhance their start-ups.
