Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE MISSION OF DUTCHESS COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION IS TO RAISE FUNDS TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUPPORT THE DUTCHESS COMMUNITY COLLEGE'S ("DCC") INITIATIVES THAT WILL HAVE A SIGNIFICANT AND DIRECT IMPACT ON THE STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF OF DCC.
TO SUPPORT OPERATIONS OF DUTCHESS COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK.
THE PROVISION OF EDUCATIONAL GRANTS TO AID AND ADVANCE THE WELFARE, DEVELOPMENT, PURPOSE, AND PROGRAMS OF DUTCHESS COMMUNITY COLLEGE ("DCC") AND ITS STUDENTS. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, THE FOUNDATION AWARDED GRANTS TO OVER 300 STUDENTS OF DCC. IN ADDITION TO THE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS, THE FOUNDATION AWARDS SMALL GRANTS TO THE FACULTY IN SUPPORT OF PROJECTS RELATED TO ACADEMIC PROGRAMS. EACH YEAR FACULTY MEMBERS ARE CHOSEN FOR THE CHAIRS, AN HONOR FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE. THE FACULTY MEMBERS RECEIVE A STIPEND AND ARE ALSO GIVEN A SMALL AMOUNT THAT THEY CAN USE TO BRING IN A SPEAKER OR TO DO A PROJECT. LECTURES TYPICALLY DRAW 300 PEOPLE AND SOME OF THE SPEAKERS HAVE BEEN PULITZER PRIZE AND NOBEL PRIZE WINNERS. CRAFT FAIR: EACH YEAR, DCC HOSTS THE FOUNDATION CRAFT FAIR WITH MORE THAN 100 ARTISTS ON THE WEEKEND FOLLOWING THANSKGIVING. THE FAIR HAS BECOME A MUCH-ANTICIPATED EVENT AS IT ALLOWS PEOPLE TO GET A HEAD START ON THEIR HOLIDAY SHOPPING BY PURCHASING ONE-OF-A-KIND GIFTS FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. NOVEMBER MARKED THE CRAFT FAIR'S 46TH YEAR. INVITED PARTICIPANTS INCLUDE SOME OF THE FAVORITE ARTISTS FROM OUR PREVIOUS CRAFT FAIRS, ALONG WITH NEW ARTISTS. THE JURIED FAIR FEATURES WORKS FROM ARTISTS WHO HAND-CRAFTED THEIR OWN ITEMS. SOME OF THE PIECES ARE CONSIDERED FINE ART. ADDITIONALLY, THERE ARE MANY SPECIALTY FOOD VENDORS. THE FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL CRAFT FAIR GIVES ABOUT 3,000 ATTENDEES THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIND ITEMS THAT YOU CANNOT FIND ANYWHERE ELSE. THE EVENT RAISED MORE THAN $30,000 IN PROCEEDS THAT PROVIDE DSERVING DCC STUDENTS WITH SCHOLARSHIPS. GALA: THE FOUNDATION'S COMMUNITY BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE GALA WAS HELD SATURDAY, MARCH 24, 2018 AT THE GRANDVIEW IN POUGHKEEPSIE, NY. DCC TRULY IS THE BRIDGE THAT MANY IN OUR COMMUNITY NEED TO REACH THEIR GOALS. CLOSE TO 400 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE EVENT TO HONOR INDIVIDUALS, ANGELA FLESLAND, '06, MARK MAHONEY '83, CATHY TEMPLE, AND FAMILY SERVICES. ANGLEA AND MARK WERE INDUCTED INTO THE ALUMNI HALL OF FAME FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS AND THEIR COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY. WE HONORED CATHY TEMPLE WITH THE BERNARD HANDEL COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARD, WHICH IS PRESENTED TO MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY WHO IMPROVE LIVES IN DUTCHESS COUNTY THROUGH THEIR LEADERSHIP AND VOLUNTEER WORK WITH LOCAL NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. WE HONORED THE FAMILY SERVICES WITH THE BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE AWARD, WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED TO RECOGNIZE INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS WHO HAVE HAD A MEASURABLE IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY AND WHO HAVE ENHANCED THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THOSE WHO LIVE AND WORK IN THE MID-HUDSON VALLEY. OUR COMMUNITY'S BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE GALA RAISES MONEY TO SUPPORT MORE THAN $420,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED EACH YEAR TO OVER 220 STUDENTS BY THE FOUNDATION. GOLF TOURNAMENT: 29TH ANNUAL FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT AND DINNER IN MEMORY OF JACK ORCUTT WAS HELD ON MAY 21, 2018 AT THE LINKS AT UNION VALE. THIS EVENT HELPS TO SUPPORT THE MISSION OF THE FOUNDATION, WHICH IS TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO DESERVING STUDENTS IN OUR REGION. THE EVENT WAS A SUCCESS, RAISING MORE THAN $53,000.
