NAMI Mid-Hudson is a mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for Ulster and Dutchess County residents living in New York and provides Mental Health Education,Support and Advocacy
NAMI Family-to-Family is an 8-week evidenced-based educational program for family, significant others and friends of people living with mental illness. The program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to an individual living with a mental health condition. Classes are taught by NAMI-trained family members who have been there, and includes presentations, discussion, interactive exercises and review of resources available in local area. Three classes were taught, 86 family members benefited and were introduced to the support programs that we provide.
NAMI Mental Health Ending the Silence (ETS) program helps high school students and staff members learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if you or a loved one are showing symptoms of a mental illness. NAMI ETS presentations include a lead presenter who shares an informative presentation and a young adult with a mental health condition who shares their journey of recovery. Audience members can ask questions and gain understanding of an often-misunderstood mental health topic and helps to grow the movement to end stigma. Nine high schools participated and the program reached 814 students plus school staff.
This includes the Small Business Association PPP loan or grant that the organization is recognizing as a grant. Businesses were required to maintain or increase salary expense during the COVID-19 pandemic for this grant. The funds were used by NAMI to expand FTEs.
