Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Haitian American Caucus- Haiti (HAC-Haiti) strengthens the capacity of communities through education and comprehensive community development. HAC-Haiti promotes sustainable development in Haiti that eliminates extreme poverty through providing opportunities for education, health, & economic self-sufficiency.
Our education program accounted for the majority of our expenses for 2015. We supported the functioning of an English Program, and Institute Mixte Shalom des Freres primary school in Croix des Bouquets, providing over 300 students from pre-kindergarten to 9th grade, 200 adolescents, and 175 teachers with education, training, school lunches, and basic healthcare.
Our Micro-Enterprise program accounted for 18% of our overall expenses in 2015. At the Haitian American Caucus- Haiti we engage in helping the communities we work in develop economically through providing small business trainings to underserved and marginalized entrepreneurs and partnering with the international NGOs to provide access to used shoes which our entrepreneurs can sell in the marketplace. The income our entrepreneurs generate from selling the used shoes helps them purchase more shoes wholesale, grow their businesses and provide for their families.
