Organizations Filed Purposes: To create a healthier, more equitable, and environmentally sustainable community by catalyzing local efforts to eliminate carbon emissions and address the effects of climate change.

Catalyze local efforts to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and (continued on schedule O) address the effects of climate change.

Rate Case: Since May 2019, the Climate Solutions Accelerator has been participating as an intervenor in RG&E's rate case, which resulted in significant climate wins, including RG&E's commitment to zero net growth in gas. This is a legal proceeding that utility companies have to initiate whenever they want to raise rates, and it is the only time when members of the public have the ability to influence how RG&E's manages our energy system and spends ratepayer dollars. (Continued on Schedule O)We have had one staff person working about 20 hours/week on this project, which is now in the final phase. The outcomes have been largely positive from a climate perspective, but we are opposing the electric portion of the case because we believe that the company's proposal places a disproportionate burden on low-income ratepayers at a time when they can least afford it (due to COVID-19).This project is funded by a private foundation.

Rochester United for Sustainable Healthy Housing is a project funded by the NYS DEC with the goal of helping renters improve the efficiency of their homes and engage in advocacy for affordable clean energy. This project is now on hold, because COVID-19 made it impossible to canvass rental properties, as planned. This program is funded by a grant from New York State.

Sustainable Homes Rochester is a partnership between the City of Rochester, PathStone, and Climate Solutions Accelerator, focused on educating people about clean heating and cooling technologies (i.e., heat pumps) and connecting them to installers and incentives, with the goal of eliminating fossil fuel use in their homes. This program is funded by a grant from New York State, passed through the City of Rochester.
