HOMESTEADS FOR HOPE IS A DEVELOPING COMMUNITY FARM INTENDED TO CREATE SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLES, ENVIRONMENTS, AND FUTURES TO CREATE AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY TO SERVE TRANSITIONING YOUNG ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES. GOALS INCLUDE 1) EDUCATING INDIVIDUALS TO BE AS SELF SUFFICIENT AS POSSIBLE AND BE A MEANINGFUL PART OF THEIR COMMUNITY, 2) PROVIDE WORK PROGRAMS, EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, AND SOCIAL EVENTS ON A WORKING FARM, 3)ENSURE A WELCOMING PLACE FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO BELIEVE IN COMMUNITY INTEGRATION AND COLLABORATION FOR THOSE WITH DISABILITIES.

SUCCESSFULLY CONTINUED PROGRAMMING, MEMBERSHIPS, AND CLASSES ON OUR CANALSIDE COMMUNITY FARM ALLOWING PARTICIPANTS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO LEARN, WORK,AND GROW IN NATURE'S CLASSROOM.

READY SET WORK! CONTINUED THIS YEAR. THIS PROGRAM CREATES WORK READINESS BY PROVIDING SKILLS BASED LEARNING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH I/DD OVER THE AGE OF 18 AND SUPPORTED BY AN INDIVIDUAL SERVICE PLAN. THE PROGRAM HAD AN AVERAGE ENROLLMENT OF 13 STUDENTS FROM MARCH THRU DECEMBER WHO ACQUIRED THE SKILLS TO WORK IN FARMING, CONSTRUCTION, HYDROPONICS, WOOD WORKING, BEE KEEPING, AND SOFT SKILLS ALLOWING THEM TO WORK IN THE COMMUNITY FARM MARKET, HOMESTEAD'S FARM STORE, AND OTHER LOCAL FARMS.

HOMESTEADS FOR HOPE, INC. OFFERS SEVERAL INCLUSIVE EXPERIENCES FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, ABILITIES, AND DIVERSITIES. THESE INCLUDES COMMUNITY CLASSES, BOWLING LEAGUE, FARM EXPLORERS, HOPE CREW, AND SOCIAL GARDENING. THESE OPTIONS ARE OFFERED TO INDIVIDUALS AGED 13 AND OVER WITH THE GOAL OF GIVING THEM A CHANCE TO SOCIALIZE WITH LIKE-MINDED PEERS IN AN INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT ON THE FARM AND AROUND THE COMMUNITY. THIS PROGRAM BEGAN MID-YEAR AND BECAME POPULAR QUICKLY DUE TO THE AVERAGE AGE OF THE GROUP BEING 16.
