Drive economic vitality in Downtown Rochester through innovation and collaboration.
BUSINESS EVENTS: Held eight events focusing on the local economy and downtown development, in addition to our Annual Meeting and Restaurant Week events. Average attendance is estimated between 125 and 375 attendees at our business events, and 21 restaurants participated in Restaurant Week, where one restaurant alone reported 1,000 new customers during restaurant week.
MARKET TRACKING REPORTS: Reports include the annual Survey of Downtown Office Space and the Downtown Housing Market Report, and the frequently updated Strategic Development table totaling all projects in downtown's development pipeline. These reports are used by RDDC members, real estate developers, lenders, appraisers, potential downtown tenants, government, media, and commercial and residential brokers.This program is primarily supported by contributions.
CREATE THE COMMISSARY: This multi-year project involved raising $2.2 million to build a food business incubator and shared kitchen in downtown Rochester. It involved site selection, lease negotiation, fundraising, holding a workshop series for food entrepreneurs, selecting contractors to construct the project, and working with potential food truck operators, restaurateurs, caterers, bakers, home-based businesses looking to legalize, and food manufacturing and production startups. Under construction as of the end of 2019. When fully operational, it will yield an annual management fee of $40,000.This program is primarily supported by contributions.
