Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE NATIONAL SUSAN B. ANTHONY MUSEUM & HOUSE INTERPRETS THE LEGACY OF THE GREAT REFORMER TO INSPIRE AND CHALLENGE INDIVIDUALS TO MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES AND COMMUNITIES. WE PRESERVE AND SHARE THE NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK THAT WAS HER HOME AND HEADQUARTERS, COLLECT AND EXHIBIT ARTIFACTS RELATED TO HER LIFE AND WORK, AND OFFER TOURS AND INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS TO SHARE HER STORY WITH THE WORLD.
EDUCATION AND INSPIRATION: COLLABORATION, CELEBRATION, AND INSPIRATION WERE KEY IN THIS HISTORIC YEAR. THE SUFFRAGIST CITY PARADE BROUGHT 40 GROUPS, 700 PARTICIPANTS, AND SPECTATORS INTO SUSAN B. ANTHONY PARK TO SHARE MUSIC, ART, AND STORIES OF WOMEN, LIKE SUSAN B. ANTHONY, WHO INSPIRE OTHERS TO CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THE GOOD OF ALL. REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE ANTHONY MUSEUM WERE AMONG THE 100 "OUTWALKERS" FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY WHO MARCHED WITH THE AWARD-WINNING PASADENA 2020 FLOAT CELEBRATING THE SUFFRAGE CENTENNIAL IN THE TOURNAMENT OF ROSES PARADE. THE MUSEUM COLLABORATED WITH FIVE DIFFERENT CULTURAL SITES AND NINETEEN ORGANIZATIONS TO PLAN AND PROMOTE VOTERCADE 2020, A SERIES OF INTERGENERATIONAL EVENTS ACROSS THE FINGER LAKES REGION IN SUMMER 2020. ON MADISON STREET, THE MUSEUM PROVIDED DOCENT-LED TOURS OF THE NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK FOR PEOPLE FROM TWENTY-FOUR COUNTRIES AND ALL FIFTY STATES. WHEN THE PANDEMIC HIT, MANY EVENTS THAT HAD BEEN IN THE WORKS FOR YEARS HAD TO BE CANCELED, BUT THE MUSEUM ADJUSTED TO WORKING REMOTELY AND PROVIDING ONLINE AND VIRTUAL EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES.
PRESERVING AND SHARING OUR INVALUABLE COLLECTION: IN ADDITION TO THE 160-YEAR OLD NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK HOUSE, THE MUSEUM HAS TWO OTHER HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND MORE THAN 5,000 ARTIFACTS IN ITS PERMANENT COLLECTION, INCLUDING FURNISHINGS, MANUSCRIPTS, DOCUMENTS, PERSONAL ARTICLES, TEXTILES, FINE ART, PHOTOS, AND SUFFRAGE EPHEMERA. ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE BLOCKS OF THE 2020 QUILT WERE LOANED TO THE NEW YORK STATE MUSEUM TO BE EXHIBITED IN ALBANY. A 1848 AMBROTYPE OF SUSAN B. ANTHONY WAS LOANED TO THE NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY IN WASHINGTON, D.C. THE MUSEUM IS IN THE EARLIEST STAGE OF A CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS TO: 1. ACQUIRE PROPERTY AND BUILD A NEW INTERPRETIVE CENTER, AND 2. BUILD A PERMANENT FUND (ENDOWMENT) TO GENERATE A STREAM OF INCOME TO CARE PROPERLY FOR ITS HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND INVALUABLE PERMANENT COLLECTION.
TELLING THE BROADER STORY. "SUSAN B. ROCS" WAS THE LOCAL THEME FOR THIS HISTORIC YEAR IN WHICH THE MUSEUM LAUNCHED CELEBRATIONS FOR THE CENTENNIAL OF THE 19TH AMENDMENT, THE MUSEUM'S 75TH ANNIVERSARY, AND SUSAN B. ANTHONY'S 200TH BIRTHDAY. TENA CLARK, AUTHOR AND PRODUCER, WAS THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER FOR THE BIRTHDAY DINNER WHICH ALSO FEATURED THE BORINQUEN DANCE THEATER. OVER 1,200 GUESTS ATTENDED THE EVENT, WHICH WAS ALSO LIVESTREAMED FOR OUT-OF-TOWN MEMBERS. THE MUSEUM PARTICIPATED IN THE PREMIERS OF SEVERAL MUSIC PIECES, TWO PLAYS, AN OPERETTA, AND THE LAUNCH OF MATTEL'S SUSAN B. ANTHONY "INSPIRING WOMEN" DOLL. THE MUSEUM RESPONDED TO MANY REQUESTS FOR INTERVIEWS IN THE PRESS, ON TELEVISION, AND ON RADIO, AND WAS FEATURED IN "SHE VOTES!" A SIX-SERIES PODCAST PRODUCED BY LYNN SHERR AND ELLEN GOODMAN ABOUT VOTING RIGHTS.
