Provide supportive services to U.S. veterans and their families.
Wellness and Supportive Services: Wellness: In 2019, new services were offered at VOC's Morale Center program. Peer support groups, "Open Art Studio," massage therapy, chiropractic care, access to laundry equipment, games and books, and even a barber shop located on-site, resulted in 442 episodes of service in support of an individual's holistic plan for wellness. VOC leverages overwhelming community support in the form of skilled volunteers to provide free services to local veterans. In all, VOC's volunteers across the agency logged over 8,000 hours of service to clients in 2019.Continued on Schedule OSupportive Services: Supportive Services: VOC offered a portfolio of no-cost services available to all veterans and immediate family members. VOC served more than 1,600 veterans over 12,000 times in 2019. Benefits counseling, temporary financial assistance, housing search, peer mentoring, financial counseling, budget workshops, and legal counseling are some of the services provided in 2019. Annually, over 500 veteran families are provided housing search and placement services. VOC's Quartermaster program provided food, clothing, and hygiene supplies to veterans over 1,000 times. VOC supported 73 veterans with their journey through Veterans Treatment Court, a program designed to graduate veterans from incarceration and lead successful lives. A dedicated female veterans program continued being designed, helping over 200 individual veterans with services focused on the unique challenges they faced during military service. VOC conducts remote services using web-based technology and helped support over 350 veterans locally and distant. Lastly, VOC staff conducted over 400 outreach and engagement activities to raise awareness of the services that local veterans have access to.This program is supported by Government grants. Grants received for this program in 2019 totaled $334,465.
Employment & Training: VOC's Employment Resource Center provided vocational counseling, skills assessment, occupational skills training, resume preparation and job search assistance. In collaboration with a local service provider, nearly 40 veterans were served over 300 times for education counseling and assistance in preparing financial aid packets. In 2019, VOC's professional team of Employment Specialists assisted in placing 226 veterans in meaningful employment with an average wage of $15.15. VOC's Veterans Community Technology Center (VCTC) had nearly 3,000 visits. VOC conducted 129 classes, offering professional training to clients.Continued on Schedule OThis program is supported by Government grants. Grants received for this program in 2019 totaled $369,998.
Residential: Veterans Outreach Center owns and operated 28 units of housing to serve homeless male veterans. In 2019, eighty eight (88) male veterans were provided shelter in our residential program. These homeless veterans were transitioned from transitional housing into semi or permanent supportive housing as well as permanent housing without the continued need for case management. Certified alcohol and substance abuse counseling was provided by VOC's credentialed staff on our OASAS certified residential site. Through an agreement with another not-for profit organization, VOC provided off-site case management services to ten (10) formerly homeless veterans living in housing units designated for veterans who had all completed programming in our transitional residential program.This program is also supported by Government grants. Grants received for this program in 2019 totaled $31,795.
