OUR HUMAN TRAFFICKING PREVENTION TEAM IDENTIFIES AND INVESTIGATES LABOR TRAFFICKING ACROSS NEW YORK STATE. WE TAILOR OUR APPROACH TO EACH INDUSTRY WE INVESTIGATE, UNDERSTANDING THE TOUCHPOINTS WHERE TRAFFICKING VICTIMS ARE RECRUITED AND COERCED, AND USING A COMMUNITY BASED APPROACH TO BUILD TRUST AND CREATE ACCESS FOR VICTIMS TO COME FORWARD. WE SUPPORT VICTIMS THROUGH IDENTIFICATION, INVESTIGATION, EXTRACTION, AND REINTEGRATION AFTER A TRAFFICKING EXPERIENCE, IN COLLABORATION WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT AND OUR SURVIVOR SERVICES AND LEGAL TEAM AS NEEDED. 50 CLIENTS SERVED IN 2019.
RECOGNIZING THE UNIQUE CHALLENGES THAT LOW WAGE AND UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS FACE IN LEAVING AN ABUSIVE OR VIOLENT SITUATION, OUR SURVIVOR SERVICES TEAM PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT THAT IS CLIENT CENTERED FROM START TO FINISH. OUR BILINGUAL STAFF STAND SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WITH SURVIVORS AS THEY NAVIGATE INTIMATE PARTNER OR WORKPLACE VIOLENCE, AND PROVIDE CONNECTION TO LEGAL SERVICES, RESOURCES, AND SUPPORT THROUGH A TRAUMA INFORMED LENS. WE BELIEVE IN THE RESILIENCE AND POWER OF SURVIVORS TO DETERMINE THEIR OWN FUTURES, AND WORK TO ENABLE THEM TO ACHIEVE SAFETY ON THEIR OWN TERMS. 28 CLIENTS SERVED IN 2019.
PROVIDE OTHER LEGAL ASSISTANCE, IN NON-CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS, TO AGRICULTURAL AND OTHER LOW WAGE WORKERS IN NEW YORK STATE, WHO COULD NOT OTHERWISE AFFORD TO ENGAGE LEGAL ASSISTANCE. APPROX. 7,200 IN AREA SERVED.
