Foster and promote reading and writing as lifelong activities.
Writers & Books provides programs to reach people of all levels of interest in reading and writing and is designed to help people discover the important part that literature plays in individual lives and the life of the community. The programs are many and varied and reach out to constituencies of all ages and backgrounds living within the region. Programs include over 200 writing classes and workshops for youth and adults, SummerWrite creative summer camps for young people, readings and talks by visiting and regional writers, residency programs at the rural retreat center, two community-wide reading programs, an annual Regional Playwriting Competition, and more. Continued on Schedule OEach year the Organization's programs and services engage more than 25,000 Rochester-area residents. These programs are also funded by contributions.
