Organizations Filed Purposes: THE SARATOGA SPRINGS PRESERVATION FOUNDATION PROMOTES THE PRESERVATION AND ENHANCEMENT OF THE ARCHITECTURAL, CULTURAL, AND LANDSCAPED HERITAGE OF SARATOGA SPRINGS THROUGH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, ADVOCACY, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND RESTORATION.

SARATOGA SPRINGS PRESERVATION FOUNDATION (SSPF) HAD THE FOLLOWING ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING FY 2019-2020 (NOTE: COVID IMPACTED THE NUMBER OF PROJECTS REVIEWED, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDED, AND PROGRAMS AND EVENTS OFFERED). - ASSISTED THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH SUCCESSFULLY EXCEED THEIR INITIAL GOAL OF $50K FOR THE RESTORATION OF THEIR MOST ENDANGERED STAINED GLASS WINDOWS. - PROVIDED COMMENTS ON CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS THE SARATOGA RACE COURSE, THE OLDEST EXTANT SPORTS VENUE IN THE COUNTRY, TO ENSURE THE UNIQUE CHARACTER IS RETAINED THROUGH A BALANCES APPROACH OF PRESERVATION AND MODERNIZATION.- PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO PROPERTY OWNERS, INCLUDING PROJECTS THAT TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE STATE AND FEDERAL TAX CREDIT PROGRAMS. - HOSTED ANNUAL PINTS FOR PRESERVATION PUB CRAWL AS A WAY TO HAVE FUN AND RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE OF LOCAL DRINKING ESTABLISHMENTS.- OFFERED 11 SUMMER SUNDAY STROLLS AS WELL AS TWO TOURS OF THE SARATOGA RACE COURSE, A TOUR OF THE ADIRONDACK TRUST COMPANY BUILDING, A BIKE TOUR OF THE SPA STATE PARK, AND A TWILIGHT TOUR OF GREENRIDGE CEMETERY. SSPF ALSO HOSTED TWO "BROADWAY" PRESENTATIONS IN 2019 AND TWO "GANGSTER" PRESENTATIONS IN 2020. SSPF PARTNERED ON PRESENTATIONS WITH SUSTAINABLE SARATOGA AND CAFFE LENA. HIGHLIGHTED THE ARCHITECTURE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION AT PRESENTATIONS FOR SARATOGA SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL AND WITH LOCAL REALTORS.- THANKED OUR LOYAL VOLUNTEERS BY HOSTING A RECEPTION AT A HISTORIC HOME ON NORTH BROADWAY IN THEIR HONOR. - TRAVELED TO PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA WITH THE LANDMARK SOCIETY OF WESTERN NEW YORK FOR MODERNISM WEEK, AN ANNUAL CELEBRATION OFFERING SPECIAL EVENTS THAT PROVIDE RARE ACCESS TO LEARN ABOUT MID-CENTURY MODERN DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE, ART, FASHION, AND CULTURE.- SUCCESSFULLY REIMAGINED THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED THE SIGNATURE EVENT, THE HISTORIC HOMES TOUR PORCH PARTY, AS A VIRTUAL EVENT WHICH HAS BEEN VIEWED OVER 8,300 TIMES BY PEOPLE ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND AS FAR AS ENGLAND.- WORKED WITH OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND THE CITY OF SARATOGA SPRINGS TO PLACE PICNIC TABLES DONATED BY THE NEW YORK RACING ASSOCIATION IN CONGRESS PARK TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL OUTDOOR DINING TO HELP SUPPORT LOCAL RESTAURANTS.- REVIEWED MORE THAN 55 PROJECTS AND PROVIDED 40 WRITTEN COMMENTS TO VARIOUS LAND USE BOARDS TO ADVOCATE FOR BEST PRESERVATION PRACTICES, ENSURING THE HISTORIC CHARACTER OF OUR DOWNTOWN AND NEIGHBORHOODS IS RETAINED. - CONTINUED TO MONITOR ENDANGERED BUILDINGS AND ADVOCATE FOR THEIR PRESERVATION. THIS INCLUDED CONTINUING TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS OF 65 AND 69 PHILA STREET BY PROVIDING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER REPORTS THAT EVALUATED THESE LONG NEGLECTED STRUCTURES, IN HOPES OF FINDING NEW OWNERS WHO WILL REHABILITATE THEM.- CONVERTED FROM AN ANTIQUATED ACCESS DATABASE TO CLOUD-BASED DONOR-DATABASE, LITTLE GREEN LIGHT.
