Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of the Fire Company is to preserve and protect life and property within Seaford Fire District and elsewhere when called upon by proper authorities to establish discipline, define duty and perfect a union among members and to promote the mutual welfare of the community.
The company holds monthly business meetings to support operations and communicate with members. Specific committees are established and responsible to accomplish the various exempt programs of the organization including preparation to accomplish its mission to protect life and property within the Seaford Fire District and to inculcate order and maintain discipline among members and discuss and vote decisions to promote mutual welfare within the community. In addition to monthly business meetings among members, the company also plans and conducts periodic fraternal dinners and other social events during the year among members and their families to try to build a perfect union among its members in support of the companys exempt purposes. These dinners provide opportunities to recognize service plateaus and other accomplishments of members in front of their peers and families as well as foster closer relationships with neighboring companies.
The Co plans community events during the year to promote mutual welfare in the community and provide visibility for the Co among residents and prospective members. These events include parades to mark national holidays, e.g.,Memorial Day. The Co. also conducts an annual Christmas holiday program with Santa Claus atop a fire truck decorated as Santas sleigh for children culminating with a tree lighting and Christmas party for children at the firehouse. Co.members conduct fire safety awareness demonstrations for Seaford school children. The Co. made 5 500 scholarship awards to graduating Seaford high school students for post secondary education. The Company also sponsors other non profit community organizations including the Boy Scout Explorers of Seaford. These sponsorships are to promote the mutual welfare of the community and provide visibility for the operations of the Company among residents and prospective members. Scholarships amounted to 2,500, community sponsorships amounted to 1,095 and 5,816 was expended on other events for total of 9,411.
Recognition of members with plaques, awards, service anniversary and good and welfare recognition is an important part of supporting ongoing successful operations and maintaining order, continuity and discipline among its members. The company sponsors drills, sports and training events to develop skills, encourage fellowship and mutual welfare among its members.
