S.O.U.L. Foundation is committed to fostering sustainable partnerships with rural Ugandans in the areas of education, maternal health, womens empowerment, and food security in Eastern Uganda.
Supporting Opportunities for Ugandans to Learn (S.O.U.L.) Foundation's mission is to foster sustainable and vibrant Ugandan communities through unique partnerships focused on education, womens empowerment, food security, and maternal health. In the fiscal year ending 8/31/19, S.O.U.L. continued to expand its program and impact in Uganda. S.O.U.L. directly served 2,269 women and their family members through the Maternal Health Network. This includes 760 women and men who attended the organization's antenatal education classes while S.O.U.L. provided 740 ultrasound scans, 166 birthing kits, and 108,450 doses of prenatal vitamins to expecting mothers. 374 students from the primary to university level participated in S.O.U.L.'s student sponsorship program, while 239 students attended one of S.O.U.L.'s two pre-primary schools. 455 students participated in one of S.O.U.L.'s mentorship courses while 668 students and community members graduated from S.O.U.L.'s computer program. Additionally, more than 1,000 women participated in one of S.O.U.L.'s 26 group cooperatives. Highlights of the group cooperatives include the fish cage group, which stocked their four fish cages on the Nile River with 30,000 tilapia during this fiscal year. 154 women graduated from S.O.U.L.'s seven-month tailoring program. 153 women farmers were trained in sustainable agriculture while another 96 women were trained in goat rearing and animal husbandry through the Give a Goat, Get a Goat" program. In total, S.O.U.L. reached over 14,000 Ugandans this fiscal year, primarily youth and women, from over 40 different communities across two districts in Eastern Uganda.
