Organizations Filed Purposes: THE CONSORTIUM FOR RESEARCH ON RENEWABLE INDUSTRIAL MATERIAL'S (CORRIM) MISSION SEEKS TO ESTABLISH, SUPPORT AND MANAGE RESEARCH, AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS RELATED TO THE PRODUCTION, USE, AND FINAL DISPOSAL OF WOOD PRODUCTS INCLUDING FORESTRY OPERATIONS AND LIQUID AND SOLID CELLULOSIC FUELS. CORRIM'S RESEARCH FOCUSES ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT THROUGH THE LIFE SPAN OF THESE PRODUCTS INCLUDING ENERGY USE, RESOURCE CONSUMPTIONS, AND ENVIRONMENTAL RELEASES IN THE FORM OF AIR AND WATER EMMISSIONS, AND SOLID WASTE. CORRIM'S GOALS ARE TO CREATE AND MAINTAIN WOOD PRODUCTION DATABASES THAT EVALUATE THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF WOOD PRODUCTS AND ALTERNATIVE NON-WOOD-BASED MATERIALS FROM RESOURCE EXTRACTION TO DISPOSAL. CORRIM HAS PRODUCED GUIDELINES FOR EVALUATING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS SPECIFIC TO FORESTRY OPERATION AND WOOD PRODUCTION TO BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS FOR PERFORMING LIFE CYCCLE ASSESSMENT. THE INTENT IS TO PROVIDE DATA FOR MANY USERS INCLUDING WOOD PRODUCT MA

DEPT OF ENERGY - DOE: THE OVERALL GOAL OF THIS WORK IS TO PROVIDE THE DOE WITH HIGH-QUALITY INFORMATION THAT ALLOWS FOR A DETAILED, COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF THE BENEFITS AND LIABILITIES OF USING WOODY FEED STOCKS FOR PRODUCTION OF BIOFUELS ON A REGIONALLY SPECIFIC BASIS. CORRIM WILL PRODUCE WOODY-BIOMASS COLLECTION SCENARIOS FROM THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, SOUTHEAST, AND NORTHEAST UNITED STATES FOR USE AS FEEDSTOCKS FOR LIQUID BIOFUELS. ADDITIONALLY, DIFFERENT WOOD MILL RESIDUE PATHWAYS WILL BE DETERMINED FOR USE IN PULP AND PAPER, LONG TERM WOOD PRODUCTS, SITE-PRODUCTION ENERGY, AND LIQUID BIOFUELS AND WHICH PATHWAY IS BEST TO REDUCE CARBON IMPACTS.

USDA FOREST SERVICE - USFS & US ENDOWMENT: COMPLETE CRADLE TO GATE LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENTS FOR NORTHEAST/NORGTHCENTRAL AND INLAND NORTHWEST SOFTWOOD LUMBER PRODUCTION, UPLOAD CURRENT LCA DATA TO THE USLCI DATABASE AND MANAGE TRANSITIONS IN THE PUBLICLY AVAILABLE LCA DATA, AND DEVELOP A FRAMEWORK FOR ASSESSING THE CARBON IMPACTS OF FOREST OPERATIONS AT THE LANDSCAPE SCALE.
