The Determination Center of Central New York offers innovative services to disadvantaged children and adults. We strive to enhance the lives of both our clients and their families dealing with disabilities and supporting them to become more.
THE CENTER IS DESIGNED TO ADDRESS THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF EACH PARTICIPANT IDENTIFYING THEIR PHYSICAL AND INTELLECTUAL CAPABILITIES AS WELL AS THEIR EMOTIONAL NEEDS. THESE PARTICIPANTS CONSIST OF GENERAL POPULATION SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN, AS WELL AS CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND THOSE DEEMED "AT RISK". ALL OF THE PROGRAMS ARE INTEGRATED, THAT IS, THE CENTER DOES NOT SEGREGATE OR GROUP THE AT-RISK AND DEVELOPMENTAL CHILDREN ASIDE FROM THE OTHER PARTICIPANTS. IT IS THE CENTER'S GOAL TO HAVE ALL STUDENTS WORK WITH EACH OTHER, LEARN FROM EACH OTHER AND OVERCOME THEIR DIFFERENCES, JUST AS ADULTS DO IN THE REAL WORLD. THUS, ALL STUDENTS LEARN THE VALUES OF TEAMWORK AND ACCOUNTABILITY THAT BREEDS INDEPENDENCE AND SUCCESS THOUGHOUT LIFE.
