Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO PROMOTE SUCCESSFUL FAMILY LIFE AND PRESERVE, STRENGTHEN, AND SUPPORT FAMILIES BY PROVIDING FAMILY COUNSELING AND OTHER COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES INTENDED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF FAMILIES AND THEIR CHILDREN/YOUTH.
IN 2019, TEXAS FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAMS PROVIDED COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES TO JUVENILE JUSTICE YOUTH AND FAMILIES THROUGHOUT 13 COUNTIES IN TEXAS AND TELE-COUNSELING SERVICES TO YOUTH AND FAMILIES IN 40 COUNTIES. PROGRAMS PROVIDED INCLUDED MULTISYSTEMIC THERAPY (MST), PLACEMENT DIVERSION (PD), FAMILY REUNIFICATION (FR), AND TELE-COUNSELING. MST IS AN EVIDENCE-BASED, INTENSIVE, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY-BASED TREATMENT FOR YOUTH WITH COMPLEX CLINICAL, SOCIAL, AND EDUCATIONAL PROBLEMS (E.G., VIOLENCE, DRUG ABUSE, AND SCHOOL EXPULSION). MST ADDRESSES THE MULTIPLE FACTORS KNOWN TO BE RELATED TO DELINQUENCY AND DESIGNED TO PREVENT PLACEMENT AND MAINTAIN YOUTH IN THE HOME AND COMMUNITY. PD SERVICES ARE DESIGNED TO ASSIST FAMILIES WHO HAVE CHILDREN ENTERING THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND WHO ARE AT RISK OF OUT OF HOME PLACEMENT. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE FUTURE DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR AND SAFELY MAINTAIN THE YOUTH IN THE HOME AND COMMUNITY. FR SERVICES ARE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO ASSIST WITH THE TRANSITION OF JUVENILE OFFENDERS FROM PLACEMENT BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY, WITH THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF ENSURING FAMILIES ARE ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY MAINTAIN THE YOUTH IN THE HOME AND COMMUNITY. TELE-COUNSELING IS ALSO DESIGNED TO ASSIST FAMILIES WHO HAVE CHILDREN IN THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND WHO ARE AT RISK OF MOVING FURTHER INTO THE SYSTEM. THE VIRTUAL ASPECT OF THE PROGRAM ALLOWS YOUTH AND FAMILIES IN RURAL AREAS WITH LIMITED ACCESS TO SERVICES INCREASED ACCESS TO PROGRAMMING. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDED SERVICES TO 259 JUVENILE JUSTICE YOUTH AND FAMILIES. TEXAS FAMILY SERVICES SUPPORTED 14.5 FTE'S, A TOTAL OF 5 PER DIEM TELE-COUNSELORS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AND PARTICIPATION IN MULTIPLE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES.
