INTENSIVE PROGRAMMING AND MENTORING DELIVERS INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE ON COLLEGE ACCESS AND ADMISSIONS, FINANCIAL AID, COLLEGE SUCCESS, INTERNSHIP AND CAREER READINESS.

LATINO U COLLEGE ACCESS (LUCA) INCREASES COLLEGE ENROLLMENT AND COMPLETION AMONG FIRST GENERATION, LOW-INCOME, HISPANIC STUDENTS BY DELIVERING SUPERIOR PROGRAMS THAT ENSURE STUDENTS FULFILL THEIR COLLEGE AND CAREER GOALS.

LATINO U SCHOLARS / COLLEGE ACCESS PROGRAM: THE LATINO U SCHOLARS PROGRAM RECRUITS HIGH ACHIEVING, HIGH POTENTIAL HISPANIC YOUTH EACH YEAR TO THE 6 YEAR SCHOLARS PROGRAM IN JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL. SCHOLARS RECEIVE ONE ON ONE SUPPORT FROM A COLLEGE COACH MENTOR, FREE TEST PREP, ESSAY WRITING WORKSHOPS AND FINANCIAL AID CONSULTATIONS. 136 STUDENTS HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM AND EXCEEDED NATIONAL HISPANIC COLLEGE ENROLLMENT AVERAGES. 93% OF LATINO U SCHOLARS ARE ENROLLED IN 4 YEAR UNIVERSITIES AND 57% ARE PURSUING A DEGREE IN STEM. 54% OF SCHOLARS ATTEND MOST SELECTIVE TO VERY SELECTIVE INSTITUTIONS WITH FINANCIAL AID THAT MEETS THEIR NEEDS.

FIRST GEN FORWARD / COLLEGE SUCCESS & CAREER PREPARATION PROGRAM: THE FIRST GEN FORWARD PROGRAM ENSURES COLLEGE PERSISTENCE AND SUCCESS FOR LATINO U SCHOLARS. 99% OF LATINO U SCHOLARS IN FGF PROGRAM REMAIN ON TRACK TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE. STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN WORKSHOPS IN COLLEGE TRANSITION AND CAREER READINESS INCLUDING, NETWORKING, RESUME WRITING, INTERVIEWING, AND INTERNSHIP SEARCH. THROUGH CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN CORPORATE SITE VISITS AND NETWORK WITH FIRST GEN HISPANIC PROFESSIONALS. PARENT WORKSHOPS ENGAGED PARENTS IN SUPPORTING THEIR CHILDREN THROUGH COLLEGE.

SCHOOL BASED COMMUNITY PROGRAMS: LATINO U COLLEGE ACCESS HAS DELIVERED COMMUNITY PROGRAMS TO OVER 4,800 PARENTS AND STUDENTS SINCE OUR LAUNCH IN 2013. THESE PROGRAMS ARE DELIVERED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH 3 LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS THAT HAVE A HISPANIC STUDENT POPULATION OVER 50%. IN 2018, 273 PARENTS AND STUDENTS ATTENDED SPANISH LANGUAGE PRESENTATIONS ON THE "PATHWAY TO COLLEGE", "APPLYING TO COLLEGE AND "PAYING FOR COLLEGE". FAFSA BOOT CAMP VOLUNTEERS ASSISTED 365 PARENTS AND STUDENTS WITH THE COMPLETION OF THE FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID AND NY STATE TAP. 96% OF STUDENTS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED FAFSA APPLICATION.
