Organizations Filed Purposes: TO HELP OUR NEIGHBORS MAINTAIN THEIR INDEPENDENCE AND QUALITY OF LIFE THROUGH INTERFAITH COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE TRAINED AND SUPPORTED BY THE INTERFAITH CAREGIVERS PROGRAM.

INTERFAITH CAREGIVERS PROGRAM PROVIDES VOLUNTEER SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES FACING SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES BROUGHT ABOUT BY DISABILITY, DEMENTIA, CHRONIC ILLNESS, OR COMPLICATION ASSOCIATED WITH THE AGING PROCESS. CARE RECIPIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES RECEIVED TWO TO FOUR HOURS, OR MORE AS NEEDED, OF SERVICE PER WEEK WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF A CARING, ENDURING FRIENDSHIP WITH THE VOLUNTEER. INCLUDED IN THE MENU OF AVAILABLE SERVICES ARE: FRIENDLY VISITING, TRANSPORTATION, RESPITE, TELEPHONE REASSURANCE, SHOPPING AND LIGHT HOME MAINTENANCE. THE POTENTIAL FOR SERVICES IS OPEN TO IDENTIFIED NEEDS, AND THE IDENTIFICATION OF VOLUNTEERS TO MEET THOSE NEEDS. MOST VOLUNTEERS MAKE A MAJOR DIFFERENCE FOR THEIR ASSIGNED CARE RECIPIENTS, AND THE PROGRAM HAS FOSTERED LASTING FRIENDSHIPS THAT CAN BECOME AS VALUABLE TO FAMILIES AS THE SERVICES THEY RECEIVE. INITIALLY CARE-RECIPIENTS REFER TO THEIR VOLUNTEERS BY NAME OR "THEIR VOLUNTEER", THEN MY FRIEND, THEN MANY CONSIDER THEIR VOLUNTEER PART OF TH

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES - INTERFAITH CAREGIVERS PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS ASSIST PRIMARILY THE ELDERLY POPULATION OF SUMMIT COUNTY WITH MAINTAINING THEIR INDEPENDENCE IN THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION TO ESSENTIAL NON-EMERGENCY MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, GROCERY SHOPPING AND RUNNING ESSENTIAL ERRANDS SUCH AS PICKING UP MEDICATION. WITHOUT THIS TRANSPORTATION SERVICE MANY OF OUR ELDERLY CARE RECIPIENTS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO KEEP THEIR MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS AND PURCHASE GROCERIES REDUCING THEIR LEVEL OF HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE. AS THE AGING POPULATION CONTINUES TO INCREASE THE NEED FOR TRANSPORTATION SERVICES OFFERED BY THE PROGRAM WILL ONLY CONTINUE TO RISE. IN 2015 OUR VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED OVER 1,340 UNITS OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES. WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY INTERFAITH CAREGIVERS PROGRAM IS THAT OUR VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE DOOR-TO-DOOR SERVICE, WAIT FOR THE CARE RECIPIENT AT THE MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, ASSIST WITH THE GROCERY SHOPPING AND CARRY THE GROCERIES INSIDE THE CARE RECIPIENT'S HOME.

FRIENDLY VISIT PROGRAM - THIS PROGRAM HELPS SENIORS FEEL LESS ISOLATED IN THEIR OWN HOMES. SERVICES INCLUDED IN THE FRIENDLY VISIT PROGRAM INCLUDE RESPITE FOR THE PRIMARY CAREGIVER DECREASING CAREGIVER STRESS WITHIN THE FAMILY UNIT, LIGHT HOUSEHOLD CHORES, YARD CHORES, MINOR HOUSEHOLD REPAIRS, TELEPHONE REASSURANCE OR JUST VISITING WITH SOMEONE WHO IS ISOLATED. THE PEOPLE WE SERVE, PRIMARILY THE ELDERLY POPULATION, TOO OFTEN FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS FROM RECEIVING SERVICES FROM OTHER AGENCIES. THE INTERFAITH CAREGIVERS PROGRAM DOES NOT HAVE PREREQUISITES FOR SERVICE AS THERE ARE NOT ANY AGE OR INCOME RESTRICTIONS. IN 2015 VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED 1,432 UNITS OF SERVICE TO CARE RECIPIENTS THROUGH THE FRIENDLY VISIT PROGRAM.
