Organizations Filed Purposes: To collect and display items of historical nature relating to Athens county with community access to geneological research

In July 2019, the History Center added a new staff member. Brad Davis joined our team as the Collections Manager. His role is to oversee our collection of artifacts and photographs, as well as our thriving internship program. With his help, we installed several new exhibits, including one on immigrants to southeast Ohio, photographs of people in Athens County from 1970 to 1992, and African American communities in our region. The corresponding speaker series, organized around the theme of the Landscape of Community, brought six speakers to the History Center and more than 500 attendees. Our most successful exhibit opened in February, 2020, and featured the stories of early pioneers to southeast Ohio. In partnership with Ohio University and Marietta College, we participated in a conference on the settlement of Ohio and hosted a kick-off brunch at the History Center. The center continues to expand its reach.
