Organizations Filed Purposes:
This organization is primarily a Christian ministry to adults that holds three day weekend retreats called Walks to Emmaus after that Scripture found in the New Testament at Luke's Gospel Chapter 24 verses 13-32. Walks are currently held at Ruggles Camp & Retreat Center, Inc. in Lewis County, Kentucky, which is owned by the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church. Four programs, called walks, were held in 2013 to inspire, challenge, and equip participants, called pilgrims, for Christian action in their homes, churches, places of work, and the world community. The four walks were designated as Men's Walks 23 & 24 in which 37 pilgrims and 54 team members participated and Women's Walks 26 & 27 in which 49 pilgrims and 54 team members participated. In addition worship services called "gatherings" are conducted once a month at the Washington United Methodist Church in Maysville, KY.
The purpose of the Community is to inspire, challenge, and equip church members for Christian action in their homes, churches, places of work, and the world community through the Walk to Emmaus experience as directed and governed by the International Emmaus Program of the Upper Room Ministries of Nashville, Tennessee. The Community is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
Men's Walks #23 & #24 were held May 2-5, 2013 and September 5-8, 2013 at Ruggles Camp and Retreat Center in Lewis County, Kentucky for the named purposes.
Women's walks 26 and 27 were held on June 6-9, 2013 and on October 3-6, 2013 at Ruggles Campground in Lewis County, KY for the purposes named above.
Eleven gatherings or worship services were held at the Washington United Methodist Church in Maysville, KY on the fourth Tuesday of the months in which services were held. Announcements are made and pending business is discussed after which praise songs are sung, testimonies given, prayer concerns shared, and an inspirational talk is given by one of the community. The community spiritual director then leads the worship group in holy communion after which a potluck meal is served.
