Organizations Filed Purposes:
To educate the public in the principles and practices of humane treatment of animals and to create a quality environment for all animals through its policies and presence in the community.
Shelter Operations Provide general medical services, vaccinations, food and shelter for all animals. Provide veterinary services, as needed, for sick animals. 292 dogs and 689 cats were adopted at the shelter. This was from 312 total dogs received with 10 transferred to other agencies, 2 returned to owners, 7 euthanized, and none died in care. For cats, 758 were received, 7 transferred, 4 returned to owners, 11 died in care and 34 were euthanized due to medical issues. For rabbits, 4 were received, 3 adopted and 1 transferred.
Cruelty cases investigated involved an assortment of domestic and farm animals. Consulted/worked with local law enforcement agencies to bring closure to cases. 227 cases were investigated and 205 cases were closed there were no re-checks 77 education, 106 unfounded 3 resulted in pressing charges. In 18 cases, owners surrendered animals and no cases were referred to other agencies. Direct home visits are implemented as response to complaint calls. Additionally, education is provided to the public about proper animal care.
The SNIP Program provides assistance to local animal welfare groups, governmental agencies and pet owners. Service assistance was provided to over 147 households and groups for 2019.
